Preschool Spotlight: St. John the Baptist’s K4 Program
We’ve been featuring local private & independent schools through our School Spotlight series for years, but have recently started a new special Preschool Edition! We hope to expand this series to include more state-licensed preschools in Huntsville and Madison County, and are excited to grow our education coverage to include more options for local students & their parents.

Please describe your School Mission:
St. John’s is committed to Catholic formation and academic excellence, preparing students to be productive citizens and faith-filled servants of God.
What’s a typical day like for a preschooler?
School starts at 7:55 (drop off available at 7:15) each morning. The students have time for a healthy snack mid-morning and in the afternoon after nap time. Along with classroom learning, there are special classes such as Spanish, Art, Music, and Physical Education as well as outdoor recess twice a day.
We also offer a half day K4 option that ends after lunch.
Meals & Potty Training
Students can bring their lunch, or lunch is provided for a small tuition increase. If a child has a food allergy, that information is posted in the office and cafeteria. Allergy safe tables are provided in the lunchroom.
What is your potty training policy?
We do not accept children who are not potty trained.
What is your preschool’s predominant educational philosophy?
Catholic schools focus on the whole child; providing an environment that supports spiritual, academic, emotional and physical growth. We work to create and positive and welcoming community and school climate for our students. We want to make strong connections with them, offer them an engaging, challenging curriculum, and help them grown into responsible, respectful, and faith-filled people.
