Welcome! Finding this site should be like moving in next door to a neighbor whose children are the same age as yours and who knows the “inside scoop” on everything. The best part, we never come over uninvited! Enjoy and please contact us if you have any ideas or suggestions on how to make the site better, or if you have questions about all the ways your business can benefit from being involved with Rocket City Mom!
Below you can read more about the main team that works to make Rocket City Mom helpful to area families in Huntsville and North Alabama.
Lindsey Barron, Chief Operation Officer
I’m Lindsey Barron, foster and adoptive parent, and mom to the Barron Bunch, party of 7!
Growing up in the Madison County area, I have spent decades in the community serving others through multiple non-profit organizations. Rocket City Mom has given me the opportunity to serve the families of our community through providing valuable resources and connections. As a parent of many, I value a good deal, a chance to learn something new, and anything that allows my family to enjoy the moment.
Rebecca Hitt, Website CoordinatorÂ
I’m Rebecca Hitt, mom of one and co-navigator of toddler life with my husband, David, and our border collie, Joel.Â
As the Website Coordinator, I love finding affordable and fun activities for families in the Tennessee Valley. We live in such a fantastic area, and I love helping families explore and enjoy all that it has to offer!
In addition to helping all the Rocket City Moms, I am deeply passionate about history and museums, space exploration and rockets, storytelling and books, art and crafting, traveling, and exploring. If I can share those loves with other people, I consider that a pretty good day.
Shannan Moore Malone, Book Club Host & Coordinator/Contributor
I’m Shannan, and yes, it is spelled with two a’s. I came to Huntsville for my college education, graduating with a BA in English and Communicative Arts, and have called it home since 2002.
I LOVE all things books and have been a voracious reader for as long as I can remember. During the endless days and nights of early childcare, desperate for connection with other moms and needing a reason to read again, I prompted Rocket City Mom to start the easiest book club on earth. We have been going strong since 2016.
I’ve been doing life with my husband for almost 20 years, which includes movies/television shows, great food and running. I’m trying not to irreparably damage the Buddy Man. LOL He’s eight.
Courtney Bedenbaugh, Rocket City Mom Ambassador
Courtney, a proud Huntsville native and Troy University grad with a Bachelor’s in Marketing, has been soaking up life in the vibrant city of Madison since 2014. She and her husband, Taylor, are the proud parents of two delightful kiddos, Scarlett (3) and Nash (born April 2024).
With ten years of experience in the fast-paced world of banking and multifamily industries, Courtney recently decided to follow her heart and dive into the world of health and wellness. She’s passionate about helping other moms thrive and is excited to bring her energy and enthusiasm to the Rocket City Mom Team. Courtney is all about personal growth, community support, and spreading positivity wherever she goes!
Jynnah Mooney, River City Mom and Lake Guntersville Mom City Ambassador
Chelsea Keeton, Shoals Mom City Ambassador
My name is Chelsea Hughes Keeton. I am a native of the Shoals area. In 2010, I graduated from The University of North Alabama with a degree in communication with a concentration in theatre and minor in geography.
I debuted my love for theatre as a munchkin at The Shoals Theatre in The Wizard of Oz at the age of 8. In 2011, I studied at Stella Adler School of Acting in NYC. In 2013, I had the privilege to perform Shakespeare in Tianjin, China. In 2018, I started my own theatre company, P3 Theatre Co., in the Shoals.
Alongside my passion for the arts, I had a successful coaching career of 17 years with the Florence Alabama Swim Team.
I married my college sweetheart, Mark Keeton, in 2020 and in 2021 we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Ruby, into the world.
Since becoming a Mom in 2021, I have looked for resources that made raising a tiny human a little easier. I was so excited when I stumbled upon Rocket City Mom as a parenting resource. I was over then moon when RCM approached me about the opportunity to be their city ambassador in the Shoals.
I look forward to serving families and caregivers in the wonderful Shoals community.
Ashley Smith, Event Coordinator
Victoria Hewlett, Event Coordinator
I’m Victoria Hewlett, a mother to 3 wonderful children and a turtle. Born and raised in Pasadena, CA, I’ve called Alabama my home since 2009! As a child, my parents loved exploring and took me on road trips all over the country. My passion for travel continues on with my family, who love seeing new places whenever we can.
I’m a California State University, Los Angeles Alum and an auditor by trade. When I’m not at my desk, you can find me spending time with my family, researching deals and finding new places to explore.
I joined Rocket City Mom as a Contributor to give fresh exploration ideas and share some of my favorite experiences, and now have the pleasure of collaborating with these amazing women to provide families with creative and helpful ways to enjoy all that North Alabama and the Southeast has to offer.
Jennifer Breuer, Founder
A newcomer to Huntsville, Jennifer started this site in late 2010. She and her husband didn’t know anyone in town and had an 18-month-old daughter who needed to be entertained. She found herself constantly looking for all kinds of information online. Where’s the best place to buy organic baby food? How do I find a pediatrician? How do I find a playgroup for my child (and me)?
After several months of not finding exactly what she was looking for she decided to create it herself. Her goal in building this site was to create a space that parents like herself would want to visit regularly and hopefully find useful. A place where parents could share useful ideas and knowledge about Huntsville and about parenting.
Stephenie Walker, Editor Emeritus
I’m Stephenie Walker, a Huntsville/Madison County native and mom to two rambunctious boys.
My addiction to community volunteering and my past as a youth services librarian has allowed me to meet and work with tons of great people and places that provide services to local families. Through Rocket City Mom I can do the things I loved most about being a librarian – connecting people with resources they need – with the things I love to do – write, read, research, and spend time with my family. (Throw in some gardening and cooking and I’m happy as a clam.)
Here at RCM we hope to make you laugh, make you think, and make it easy for you to enjoy living in our amazing community. There is always something going on, and we do all the work finding out about it so you don’t have to!
