Our favorite weekend market is the Madison City Farmer’s Market – they are open Saturday mornings and this week will feature local honey, sweet potatoes, muscadines, and more! There’s lots more markets open this week to be found in our Farmer’s Market Guide, as well as roadside stands with fresh apple cider!

FIT4MOM of Madison is celebrating one year of stroller fun, and you’re invited to the party! But first, an hour-long total body traveling stroller strides workout from 9:30-10:30, followed by cupcakes, face painting, a picture booth for mommy and kiddos to commemorate their special morning together, door prizes and more! Bring a canned item to donate to Inside Out Ministries.

A Friday Night Art Walk in September? You must be dreaming! But it’s true! The August date was rained out and this is the rain date. There are dozens of vendors with a wide variety of arts and crafts as well as live music. The event takes place during open entertainment district hours, so feel free to stroll with your favorite beverage while shopping and enjoying local art in the kid-friendly atmosphere. River Clay Arts Festival

At this family-friendly event there will be 76 fine artists from 9 different states selling ceramics, drawings, fiber art, glass art, jewelry, metalwork, mixed media, paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, woodwork, and more. Artist demonstrations, children’s art activities, student art exhibits, musical performances and more will be throughout the day.
Learn to Wrestle

Calling all youth 1st through 8th grade interested in learning about wrestling. No experience needed! Open mat practice is a fun way for your child to learn the fundamentals of wrestling, grow into the sport, learn sportsmanship, work on teamwork and grow as an individual. “Museum Day Live!” is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide entry to anyone presenting a “Museum Day Live!” ticket – it provides free admission for two people. Bike Rodeo

The Optimist Club of Madison is hosting their annual Bike Safety Rodeo for both new and younger bike riders. Learn proper bike handling using small chalk outlined courses. Madison Cycles will be there to inspect bikes for safety and make minor adjustments if needed. There will be refreshments and other goodies.
Fall Festival in the Park

Sharon Johnston Park | More Info
This family-friendly event features inflatables, old-fashioned games (potato sack races, tic-tac-toe, pumpkin bowling, etc), food, hay rides, and horse and buggy rides. Funds from the Festival will be used to establish the Pioneer Village at Sharon Johnston Park, a 19th Century rural village being set up as a living museum for visitors to the park.
Drop In & Create

This hands-on art activity is appropriate for the entire family! For this edition of Drop-in & Create, make your own masterpiece using materials that mimic glass. Explore the beautiful glass artwork in the permanent collection, “American Studio Glass”. Read the RCM review before you go.
Sparkman Arts Fest

There will be artists, authors, crafters, musicians, photographers, wood-workers, food trucks, and activities for children at this 3rd annual event. A celebration of the arts and the artists in Madison County, this event is a fundraiser for Sparkman’s literary magazine, a student publication.
Community Block Party in Madison

FIX THE GATE block party is an annual event to celebrate the underserved West Madison area of the community. The event started out in (2016) to highlight a near by fence/gate that was dilapidated for 8 years. The event also highlights the area to bring more activities and events, resources, and ultimately a community park playground and enrichment center.

Jazz in the Park

Come spend the day with your family in the great outdoors of southern middle Tennessee. Plan to stay for several hours while you try to find your way out of the giant 7 acre corn maze. From there of course the kids will have to play on the farm playground with monster slides, tire spinners, 4 corn boxes, pumpkin bounce, inflatable slides, duck racers, apple cannons, and zip-lines. Top off the day with a ride to the pumpkin patch!

Rocket City Twirlers is holding a Pancake Breakfast with Batman & Cinderella! Ticket includes breakfast, photos and autographs. This event is to help RCT members attend TwirlMania in February of 2018. Come out and enjoy the morning with fabulous characters, great food, fun, and support a great cause.

Huntsville Botanical Garden
I know we listed this last week, but really – this is one of our FAVORITE times of year to explore The Garden. It’s full of awesome Fall fun for your family! Scarecrows & a sorghum maze , a fairy garden workshop, cool kinetic sculptures, and much more.
Go Apple Picking

Your family will start with a guided and narrated wagon ride across the 1,200 acre farm. You will be in parts of the farm that the public has NEVER had access to before. Then continue with a tour of packing operations, and finish by picking apples on your own time. Price of apples is NOT included. RSVP online in advance.
