I can’t imagine anyone being bored in Huntsville, especially in the Fall. There is SO MUCH to do! We’ve listed our favorite free and/or cheap events for you below, but – believe it or not – there are even MORE in our full Event Calendar.

Now’s the time to start registering all the kids for 2017 Fall Break Camps and you have several to choose from. Because we’ve got your back, we put them all in a handy dandy list just for you.

Fall Consignment Sales

It’s Fall Consignment season and we couldn’t be more ready. The seasonal Kids’ Kloset sale is here for three days Thursday-Saturday, and Rocket City Consignment kicks off their Fall & Winter sale that starts this weekend and goes through Oct. 1st. Stock up on gently-used clothes, toys, furniture and more! It’s a great way to participate in the Three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle! Annual NEACA Craft Show

Don’t miss the area’s largest Fall craft show, featuring hundreds of vendors! It’s a great place to find unique gifts and support handmade local crafters at the same time. Toys, jewelry, decor, clothing – you’ll always find something interesting.

Food Truck Battle & Rocket Roll

Friday from 5-9 PM

Campus 805 | More Info

For this battle in the 12-part series, the Silvery Moon Band starts around 6pm and there will be a hot pepper eating contest on site at 6:30. The event is free to attend, open to the public, and offers up a unique Huntsville street food experience for families. Also happening at Campus 805 that night – Rocket Roll! This FREE family event will feature a performance by Foot Pound Force, a band comprised of local engineers, and STEAM interactive activities by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, HAL5, and Broadway Theatre League.

Concerts on the Dock

Our favorite place to be on a Friday evening is right here with the whole family! Pack your picnic basket and grab your lawn chairs – the Tony Perdue Band will perform at Lowe Mill tonight! This rootsy and bluesy ensemble is sure to stir your soul.

iFest of North Alabama

This one-day, family-friendly spectacular features a wealth of global performances, from folk dance and traditional instrumentals to ethnic song and martial arts demonstrations. There’s also food trucks – a festival favorite; FREE hands-on children’s games and crafting; an Open Air Market; and table displays featuring cultural artifacts, travel/historic literature, handicrafts, native apparel, educational videos, and so much more. It’s a way to travel the world in your backyard!

Monte Sano Art Festival

Along with the outdoor festival exhibitors, this year’s festival will add in kid’s activities and also continue to feature local food trucks and musicians throughout the park. This festival is outdoors, and always a highlight of the arts calendar!

To celebrate the grand opening of the new Rosenwald Schoolhouse educators get in free on Saturday! Enjoy a day at the beautiful historic park, visit the schoolhouse, and make some new friends in the barnyard. Create a Watercolor Landscape

Join your friends from Rocket City Mom as we kick off the annual Great Diaper Drive! This family-friendly event is all about raising 1,000 diapers and wipes for local babies in need. There will be a special beer unveiled just for the event, and Toybox Bistro will be serving up some delicious vittles. Kids and parents can even participate in a few diaper-themed games at 5:30, and live music will start around 7pm. Hope to see you there!

If there’s any weekend to head to HBG, it’s this one. There will be TONS of awesome Fall fun for your family! Hay bales, scarecrows, a sorghum maze, and much more.

Huntsville Ghost Walk or Trolley

Hear stories from Huntsville’s haunted past and learn why the spirits remain. You choose one of three guided tours through the Twickenham District, the Old Town District, or the Downtown District. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. The 90-minute trolley runs every Friday and Saturday in October at 6pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for kids twelve and under.
