2nd Annual Mompreneur Event Tackles the Mom-Hustle Struggle

Mompreneur Event #mompreneurHsv

A city as innovative as Huntsville is full of people that know how to get things done. The Catalyst Center for Business & Entrepreneurship has made their mission to find those people and help them succeed. When they hosted The Mompreneur Event last year, they realized the unique challenges women face when they are starting a business AND managing a family.

Women’s Business Center Program Manager, Katie Williams, sees it all the time. “Today’s ‘mompreneur’ has more on their plate than other small business owners. In many cases these women have day jobs to work and small children to raise, and are only able to focus on their business ventures late at night or on weekends.”

Obstacles like these are what The Mompreneur Event will focus on at the half-day mini conference on November 2nd. Panel discussions that feature local moms & entrepreneurs will have topics like “The Struggle Is Real” and “Fake It ‘Til You Make It”. Topics like mom guilt, life hacks, and how to bootstrap your business from side hustle to full-time gig are all on the agenda.

Getting a new business venture off the ground can be especially hard for single moms. Breakout sessions that address how to make your dreams happen while raising your kids solo plus a hands-on workshop over lunch are all included in the day. All mompreneurs will leave the event with brand new contacts, a built-in support system, resources to get their business venture running, and a head start on a business model canvass. (Plus… the goodie bag is going to be EXCELLENT.)

  • As a homeschooling mom raising two kids and trying to grow my blogging and network marketing business, there really doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day or a peaceful place to brainstorm! But somehow we moms still manage and make it happen. Balancing family and work is difficult. Oh, and yes… background noise and toys everywhere are all a part of it.

  • single mother of four
    need I say more
    24/7
    heaven
I appreciate any help I can get
Hugs to all that ease my fret

  • Probably the hardest part of being a Mompreneur is balance-finding the time to work the full-time job while fueling your budding business, and being a mom that the kids don’t hate (he he). Not to mention doing it single and finishing a degree! It’s fun, though, and while I may wish I had a little, just a smidge of help sometimes I love every minute of the journey!

  • Definitely not having enough time in the day! Work, husband, kid, side hustle- means the only thing I cut is sleep 🙂

  • Time management is my biggest issue. I feel like I’m constantly trying to shift back and forth between my roles of mommy and business owner. I never feel like I’m succeeding fully at either.

  • I am a single mom of 2 with one having special needs. I work a full time job and have side hustles. I want to learn more about making my businesses work for me and how I can grow as an entrepreneur.

  • Favorite momprenuer struggle story- showing properties to a client and my son had a poop blowout while I was wearing him in the carrier!

It’s incredibly difficult to manage the needs of clients/business alongside your family and household. It’s something I don’t think you ever master but you can always get better at it. Eager to hear other momprenuers’ hacks for making things work!!

  • Not being able to make anything without any of the kids asking if they can have it or to make them one!
