Welcome back to our quarterly roundup of Madison Family Fun! Each season Melissa will be delivering fun and family-friendly events in Madison, Alabama to busy parents there. Of course, our specialty is free/cheap things to do in Madison but the ultimate goal is spending time together in your community.

School is out, the sun is shining, and parents all over Madison are already dreading the summer lament of “I’m bored!” Head off the complaints by filling your calendar with tons of family-friendly events in Madison. Whether you’re looking for indoor or outdoor activities, you’re sure to find something your family will enjoy to fill those long summer days.

Best Playdate Ever!
June 8 | 10 – 11:30 AM

Children ages 5 and under will enjoy fun outdoor and a few indoor activities to help them run and jump out all their wiggles! Parents must stay with their child. There will be a Chick-fil-A option for lunch, masks optional but not required. Registration open now!

County Line State of Mind 10K, 5K, and Base Run

James Clemens High School | More Info

Who’s ready to run in the streets of Madison, AL? You’re going to get your chance… all you have to do is complete your registration and show up ready to run in this inaugural race. The course is fun, rolling hills with a constant breeze, closed to traffic, and did we mention fun?! The Start and Finish are located at James Clemens High School while the 10k and 5k routes both head out onto County Line Road. Awards will follow the last race at the James Clemens Jetsplex.

Family Scavenger Hunt

No summer is complete without a scavenger hunt! Join the Summer Family Scavenger Hunt with Asbury Methodist. This self-guided scavenger hunt will be throughout Madison City and is a fun way to spend time with your family! There will be signs all over Madison with QR codes to scan for your next clue. Listen to fun music with the playlist provided too. There’s a special gift for children that complete the hunt awarded on June 27.

Madison Business Expo and Kids Day

Come join the 2021 Business Expo and Kids Day for a day of networking with the best local businesses in town! Enjoy listening to the band Groove while checking out local products and services. There will be a Kid Zone for kids to enjoy inflatables, games and lots more fun activities. Food trucks will be onsite to pick up your favorite lunch items. Look for you friends from Rocket City Mom – they’ll be there!

City of Madison Star Spangled Celebration

The City of Madison Star Spangled Celebration will take place on Saturday, July 3rd at Dublin Park! The event is free to attend, and there will be inflatables, live music, food vendors, and fireworks at the end of the night. A free shuttle service will be provided to and from Bob Jones High School for the event. The event will start around 5PM and go until the fireworks show is over. More details coming soon.

Trinity Baptist Church, 1088 Hughes Rd

Madison City Farmers Market is the area’s original local, producer-only farmers market, founded in 2007. Everything sold at the market is grown or crafted by local farmers and craftspeople. Vendors provide a wide selection of the freshest local veggies, fruits, cheese, eggs, meats, milk, herbs, honey, jams, relishes, home-baked goods, plants and flowers. Come see creations from local artisans including handmade cards, soaps, lotions, candles, wood crafts, sewn items and other handmade products.

Outdoor School Age Program

ESL classes at Asbury provide patient teachers who are invested in helping people who do not speak English to improve their speaking abilities and also become more comfortable in understanding American culture. All skill levels are welcome. For advanced students, citizenship classes are also offered as part of our Tuesday morning classes for those who are eligible. Free KidsCare is available for all classes with reservation and drop off begins 15 minutes prior to class. Madison Summer Concert Series – NEW VENUE!

The Madison Arts Council and the City of Madison is pleased to announce the return of the Madison Concert Series. This year is going to be bigger and better than years past—the City of Madison has completed Home Place Park that will be the new venue for future music events!

The Madison Library will host a fun outdoor movie series planned for every other Thursday in June and July. Movies will be shown on the library back lawn and usually start at 8 pm (or when dark). Bring your chairs or blankets and arrive early for a good spot under the stars!

The regular city council meeting times are a great way to learn what’s going on in your neighborhood. Meetings are broadcast through YouTube and Wow Channel 42.
