Join for Maker Mondays every Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maker Monday programming is included with museum admission and is intended to stimulate inquiring minds of all ages with hands-on STEM demonstrations and guided, engaging activities.
January 8, 22, 29 – Maker Monday: Design and Fabrication – Students will work in teams and apply the product design process to invent a structure with index cards that will hold weight and meet given requirements. Students will note the different designs and discuss changes they may make to improve their own structures. The activity will challenge students to improve and simplify their design by using fewer index cards while achieving either the same or a greater level of success.
January 15 – Maker Monday: Civil Enginering – Celebrate civil rights and civil engineering with activities about African Americans in STEM. Dream big and build bridges for the future and towers of skyscraping opportunity while discovering the hands-on field of civil engineering.
