Thank goodness it’s Thursday! That means the weekend is right around the corner, and lucky for you there’s lots of free family-friendly fun to be had here in Huntsville.
The weather might be chilly but that doesn’t stop your little ones from clamoring to DO something and GO somewhere. Keep our list of Indoor Playgrounds & Activities handy for those rainy, cold days. We put it together just for the winter months like this.

Skating in the Park’s Last Weekend

We know. $10 per kid can add up fast. But if you haven’t made it yet to this annual seasonal event this is your last chance! Something about bundling up in scarves and mittens and skating outside with your family in your hometown park is just magical. Plus they have plenty of the “skate walkers” on hand should you need them. It’s a great way to create a winter memory for your kids. Read our review here.

If you’re a teacher, it’s your lucky weekend! Not only do you get to see the newest exhibits at the Space & Rocket Center, but you get access to great workshops & field trip previews too. One accompanying guest is free with each teacher. You can enjoy the newest travelling installation, “101 Inventions that Changed the World”, that explores the inventions and their subsequent effect on humankind.

Cheer for the home team as they fight Bowling Green on the ice. See all home games from your own seat at the renovated Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville. This exciting schedule is will feature various promotional weekends, including free giveaways of different items. Family friendly and free admission to all kids under age 12!
Comic Science Improv
Friday from 7:00-9:00 PM

Comic Science Improv is a local troupe of actors who perform hilarious sketches based on suggestions given by the audience. The shows are appropriate for all audiences, and consist of a collection of short scenes of improv “games” — anything from speaking only in questions to reinterpreting favorite movies — based on suggestions from the audience. If you’ve ever seen “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” you have some idea of how the show works. Kids 10 and up will love it.
Magic Show at the Library

Mensa Kids Trek is hosting Mensa Kids Trek Magic starring The Amazing Bob and The Amazing Harold! This show is free, open to the public,and geared for all ages. Children must have adult partners. More details here.
Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
