Lots of Fun and Play this Earth Day
With more than 70 hands-on activities, booths, and vendors, this year’s Earth Day Festival at Hays Nature Preserve was sure to be a hit. Yet, the people behind Operation Green Team couldn’t stop there. Despite their emphasis on conservation there is one area in which this group of environmentalists NEVER conserve and that’s fun. So when you visit this Saturday expect more information, more excitement, and of course, more fun!
Do we sound a little excited? Maybe you’re thinking to yourself that Earth Day is great and all but really how much fun can learning about recycling be. Trust me, this event is focused on helping children AND adults alike learn about taking care of the earth and the many wonders and joys it brings to our lives. So get out and explore some nature this Saturday and show your children that taking care of the earth is not only important, Â it can also be a whole lot of fun.
How Much Fun Can You Handle?
Still not convinced? Check out this video to get just a glimpse of what’s in store.
So grab those binoculars and enjoy a birding hike led by local legend John Ehinger at 8AM and then hang around for the puppet show put on by Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater. Don’t miss the free fishing (poles and worms provided for you!) and facepainting, and be sure to check out the falcons, owls, and bald eagle the Coosa River Science School will have on hand.
Catch the butterfly release at noon and don’t forget to stop by Burritt on the Mountain’s table and get your free pass to visit their newest exhibit – Treasure Hunt on Gold Mountain for the rest of that day. Your Saturday will be so full of FREE fun the kids will come home that evening and collapse. You’re welcome 🙂
