Do your kids love the movie Night at the Museum? Well then, why not blow their minds and tell them they get to spend an entire week (or even the summer) at a local museum? There are options for all types of interests and if you are looking to combine education and fun this summer there is no need to look further. Burritt on the Mountain

If getting outside and enjoying nature is what you had in mind for your children this summer, then giving them the chance to become a Nature Ranger at Burritt on the Mountain might be just what you were looking for. Students will spend their days exploring the historic park, hiking trails, and Burritt’s barnyard under the supervision and direction of CPR-certified staff. Each week activities center around various characters from this summer’s featured installation – The Whimsical Woods. Camps are offered weekly from 9AM-2PM with extended day options available. Students should bring their own sack lunch but a snack is provided.
Sci-Quest

In a science and engineering town like Huntsville you know there are plenty of parents who are looking for ways to share their interests with their kids. What better way than sending them to a science camp? Sci-Quest offers over 50 different camps this summer and that means there are 50 different ways your children can discover just how much fun science can be. With camps like “Reptile Revolution”, “It’s Not Magic, It’s Science”, and “Gamers Laboratory”, there’s something for every type of aspiring scientist or engineer. Camps typically run 9AM-Noon and 1-4PM and if your student enrolls for both morning and afternoon camps they can bring a sack lunch and eat in the Science Cafe (lunch care/supervision is provided).

The Huntsville Museum of Art offers a wide selection of classes in two classrooms, Chrysler Corporation and Colonial Bank, overlooking Big Spring International Park in downtown Huntsville. These classes cover all types of mediums and are offered for children 3 years of age through high school. There are even classes for adults! Preschool classes are one-hour long, K-8 classes are 1.5 hours. Registration is easy and can be done online as well as over the phone. These courses are great for students of all abilities and if you make it to a morning class, make a day of it and explore Big Spring Park, feed the ducks, and enjoy a picnic while you’re there (or have lunch at RCM favorite Pane E Vino).
