An alternative to the traditional pumpkin patch, the North Alabama Railroad Museum is combining the thrill of picking a pumpkin with the excitement of a train ride!! Everyone will board the train at the Mercury & Chase Depot and ride through the woods to Normal, AL. All passengers will then disembark the train to visit the pumpkin patch. Every child will be able to choose his or her very own pumpkin to take home! They always get our pumpkins from Lyon Family Farms and they are beautiful every year!! Their 1949 Southern Railway Pullman Sleeper coach will be pulled along for this ride (however, no food or drink will be offered during this short excursion). These days offer families the opportunity to visit the preserve with environmental educators on site to lead short hikes, suggest activities, and conduct a small number of short programs.

Take advantage of this opportunity to use LEGO® building as a way to teach building techniques, structure, logic, or any of a number of other things, or just to play! They will be adding a series of challenges to be used each day you come in. Simply pick one of the challenges and we will provide you with other needed items for that challenge. This will provide the participants with a learning experience and a new concept each time they come!

The Nina & Pinta replica Ships starting June 23rd 2025, will be open for scheduled guided tours only Monday through Friday with groups of 15 or more. Ships will be open for Self-guided walk aboard tours Saturday & Sunday from 11am-5pm at Guntersville City Harbor, 29 Paddle Wheel dr. in Guntersville, AL until October 19th 2025. The Niña was built completely by hand and without the use of power tools. Archaeology magazine called her "the most historically accurate Replica of Columbus’ Ship ever built." Many historians call the “Caravel” the Space Shuttle of the 15th Century. Today, both Ships tour together as a dockside “floating museum” for the purpose of educating the Public and school Children on the “Caravel”, a versatile Portuguese Ship used by Columbus and many early explorers during the “Age of Exploration”!
