5 Reasons to Become a Member: Huntsville Botanical Garden
We think Huntsville is a great place to raise children and the many family-friendly, kid-centric museums and attractions provide plenty of opportunities to keep those kids busy. For locals, purchasing a membership is a great way to save money (most family memberships pay for themselves in two visits) and support these wonderful non-profits at the same time. In our newest series 5 Reasons to Be a Member we’ll highlight what we consider to be the biggest draws for each of these attractions and why we think “membership really does have its privileges.”
I’ve named five reasons here but I could have named 20. It’s simply one of the VERY BEST things about Huntsville and well worth the $125 annual family membership fee.
5 AWESOME Reasons to Join the Huntsville Botanical Garden
1. Party at the Children’s Garden!
Whether you’re looking for a playdate venue, enjoying Wacky Wednesdays, or going on a Firefly Hike, the Children’s Garden is a great place for the younger visitors to play and explore! They’ll love splashing in the Pollywog Bog during the warmer months, creeping through the jurassic plants, skipping over the rainbow, peering at the rocket, and more!
BONUS: The Children’s Garden area is completely enclosed, making it hard for little Houdini’s to escape, and a safe place for kids to run and play year-round.
2. It’s the Perfect Escape Year-Round
When thinking of a garden, you may only think of warm weather and sunshine, but the Huntsville Botanical Garden is perfect year-round. You can splash in the pollywog bog during the warmer months, have a scarecrow day in the fall, enjoy a major discount to the award-winning Galaxy of Lights during the holidays, and go on a scavenger hunt for new blooms in the spring.
3. Speaking of Discounts…
Members enjoy tons of discounts to special events, programs, camps, and classes throughout the year! Is the Galaxy of Lights a favorite holiday tradition? You can snag tickets for less! Interested in the Garden’s Seeds to Sprouts classes or summer camps? Members pay less. As an added bonus, you can take your membership with you on the road. As a member of the Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admission Program, a membership to the Huntsville Botanical Garden also gives you admission to gardens across the nation including Cheekwood Gardens, Memphis Botanic Garden, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Knoxville Botanical Gardens & Arboretum, and more.
4. A few minutes of peace.
Sure, there’s plenty of room to run and explore, but the Garden is also perfect for slowing down and relaxing! Whether it’s sitting on one of the benches to soak in the nature, hanging out in the hammocks in the Garden, or even finding one of the swings from In Full Swing, the Garden can also be a relaxing retreat.
5. Nature never looked so good.
For all the family-friendly fun there is to be had at the Huntsville Botanical Garden, it can be easy to forget that first and foremost this is a botanical garden and it’s easily one of the most beautiful spots in the Tennessee Valley. Every year HBG brings a new feature or traveling exhibit that kids will love – tree houses, LEGOS, kinetic sculptures, whimsical story-themed structures… be sure to check what’s coming next!
