Peach season is here in north Alabama until August and our beloved family farm, Scott’s Orchard, is THE place to be!
Peach trees are at the back of the farm and not visible from the gift shop. You will notice the hundreds of apple trees at the front of the orchard. Over 20 varieties of peaches are grown on the farm with a complete list of varieties available on their website.

Can you pick your own peaches at Scott’s Orchard?
Peaches are currently available at area farmers markets and in pre-picked baskets inside the orchard gift shop. PLus, Scott’s Orchard has some designated U-Pick Your Own Peaches Days this summer:
- Saturday, June 26 from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Saturday, July 17 from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Saturday, July 31 from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Saturday, August 14 from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
You MUSt sign up online in advance to reserve a time to pick your own!
Fun fact: They also have a large number of sunflowers growing for some U-Pick Sunflower Days you won’t want to miss!
Large baskets of pre-picked peaches are available in the gift shop on site. These baskets hold around 30+ fresh orchard peaches. Also in the General Store Gift Shop are the popular peach slushy and “Life is Peachy” t-shirts, jams/jellies, wooden bowls, cutting boards, local honey (from bees on farm), and unique gift items – a great idea for Father’s Day!
More Scott’s Orchard Tips:
- Cash & Cards are accepted in the gift shop.
- A wheelchair ramp is in front of building that leads into the store. For those that require more assistance, Scott’s Orchard is happy to help. Call and let them know when you arrive.
- Bathrooms are on site but there are no changing tables.
- Picnic tables are up front next to sign. If you want to sit and enjoy your peaches right away or bring a picnic lunch these are a great spot to taste those juicy peaches!

Peaches are a great source of vitamin A and C. The orangey and yellow color of the peaches contain the antioxidant, carotenoids, which have anti-cancer properties in that beautiful peachy color.

- Room temperature is best.
- Wash-Only wash just before eating to prevent quick spoiling.
- Not Ripe Yet? For faster ripening, place peaches in a brown paper bag on kitchen counter
- When they are ripe-then you can put in fridge to chill.
- Eat them within a week for best taste and quality.
- To preserve the color in your peaches for freezing, soak in lemon juice for 5 minutes, strain and place on a baking sheet in single flat layer. Once frozen transfer to freezer safe storage container.
Our Favorite Peach Recipes
Cinnamon Ricotta Toast with Peaches
Start with local bread, we love Huntsville’s Canadian Bakin’ Cinnamon Brioche (for best results)
1/2 cup of ricotta cheese
1/2 TBS cinnamon
Mix/Whip in bowl to incorporate cinnamon.
Spread cinnamon ricotta cheese on toasted brioche slice.
Slice thin slices of Scott’s Orchard peaches, place on top.
Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with cinnamon, top with finishing salt and add fresh mint to garnish.
**To kick it up a notch: grill those peaches!
Peach Biscuits with Homemade Whipped Cream
Bake your favorite biscuit, from scratch or homemade.
Pro-tip: sprinkle turbinado sugar on top of biscuit when still hot from oven
Slice open your hot biscuit, dollop with whipped cream and sliced peaches!
1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
3 TBS Powdered Sugar
½ tsp Vanilla Extra
Add all ingredients into bowl. With electric mixer, beat on medium for a few minutes until soft peaks form.
Dairy Free Coconut Whipped Cream:
1 Can Full Fat Coconut Milk (put in fridge a day or two in advance to harden)
1 TBS Maple syrup/granulated sugar/powdered sugar
1 tSp Vanilla Extract
Open cold coconut milk can, scoop out the hardened/separated cream. (save liquid for smoothies)
Whip all ingredients for several minutes until soft peaks form.
