Help Build a River of Hope in Madison!
Summer is here! Looking for something to do with the family, but still socially distancing? Madison Visionary Partners and The City of Madison invites you to help create the “River of Hope,” a painted rock garden along the new section of Bradford Creek Trail in Madison! This is a great family or small group activity to do this summer while staying socially distant.
If your family would like to paint a rock or two to add to the dry river rock bed, you can do so before July 14th. Here’s how…
River of Hope in Madison, Alabama
How to Participate
STEP ONE: Purchase your rock at the Madison Rocks Store. They range in price from $5-$1,000 and come in different sizes.
STEP TWO: Pick up your rock at one of the pick-up / drop off (Rock Depot) locations below:
- Discovery Middle School Tuesdays from 11AM – 1PM
- Bradford Creek Trail (off Mill Road) Tuesdays from 1PM – 3PM
- Madison Public Library Tuesdays from 3PM – 6PM
- Posh Mommy and Baby Too any weekday between 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
STEP THREE: Paint and/or decorate your rock – there are tips below on how to make it last in the elements! If you’re not feeling artistic, you can even contact Madison Visionary Partners to paint your rock for you.
STEP FOUR: Drop off your rock for placement in the River of Hope at any of the following “Rock Depots”:
- Discovery Middle School Tuesdays from 11AM – 1PM
- Bradford Creek Trail (off Mill Road) Tuesdays from 1PM – 3PM
- Madison Public Library Tuesdays from 3PM – 6PM
- Posh Mommy and Baby Too any weekday between 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Lots of local nonprofit organizations are also helping out with the effort. JustServe.org, The Rotary Club of Madison, the Madison Chamber of Commerce, Madison City Schools, and the local chapter of the American Legion are all participating in making this project possible.
