How to Throw a Tea Party Baby Shower
Planning a party can be the most daunting. Where are the best places to consider as party venues in Huntsville? How can you throw a good party and stay within your budget? We plan on helping busy parents find the answers to those questions and more in our series, “It’s My Party“, where we invite real, local parents to share their great party planning experiences with other readers.

Cake, Food, and Decorations
We had cupcakes. A relative of the Mom-To-Be does cakes and things so she made some to contribute. I used them in the decor and in the party favors. I also did chicken salad croissants, fruit, macaroons (frozen from Kroger but so good!), iced and hot tea, and cheese cake bites, also from Kroger.
I spent a few weeks gathering tea cups and saucers from different thrift stores and used them as both decor for the tables, holders for cupcakes, and favors to take home! So cheap and easy yet GORGEOUS! A favor just for the Mom-To-Be was a tea pot painted with chalk paint that we used as a guest book. Everyone signed it and she got to take it home.
Most decorating items we didn’t already have came from the Dollar Store and we dressed them up – table clothes, utensils, cups, and fake flowers.
Games & Activities:
We did an activity where each guest colored a pretty printed letter from the alphabet from Pinterest to put in a color book for the baby later. We also had each guest write some advice and encouragement on diapers for those late nights spent changing diapers.
We had a give away for guests throughout for random things like “Mom Who Has The Most Kids”. We had a few frames decorated with flowers that we used as a “photo booth” and finally an activity where we shared wishes for the new mom and baby.
Final Thoughts & Advice
This was a fun party and most if not all of the decor came from thrift stores – tea cups, prizes for the games, frames – or the Dollar Store. It’s also a great idea to get friends and family involved with the food and drinks to cut down on the budget. Trust me, most want to help celebrate the new arrival!
