Plan a Curious George Birthday Party

When my son was turning two, he was crazy about Curious George, so it seemed like a great theme for his birthday party. I was able to find some basic decorations at a local party store, but I used Pinterest to add some additional touches. We don’t have a big house so I wanted to make the most of the small space. These Curious George birthday party ideas should help you plan something similar!

Decorations & Food

I bought several picture frames from the Dollar Tree and framed book covers, which I used to decorate our mantle and to hang around the room. I looked up how to make pinwheels out of paper and made a few to decorate with, and I made the garland out of craft paper and glue sticks and hung it across the fireplace.

I bought wooden letters from Hobby Lobby, painted them red and set them on the mantle; I also used them for his two year-old picture.

I used a mixture of balloons, tissue paper balls and paper lanterns to surround our dining room chandelier. The end result turned out great, and I got a lot of compliments on it.

Online Resources

Behind it was a candy bar decorated with streamers and some garland I made by using a paper punch. I made chocolate cupcakes and printed toppers which were attached to toothpicks. I cut a large number two out of cardboard and covered it with pages from a book, and we served pop corn rolled up in book pages.

For the table, I used black tape around a yellow cup to make cup and plate look like a yellow hat, and I placed bananas everywhere. I ordered a “Curious Dax” shirt from Etsy, my go-to place for party supplies I can’t get here in town or make myself.

Favors & Activities

The party was mostly adults and very young kids so while the kids played with Dax’s toys, the adults chatted and ate. Everyone said they had a good time, and the decorations really brought the party theme together.

The kids took home a small Curious George book which I bought from Scholastic Books for $1 each and a bag of candy.

This theme could work for both boys and girls and could also be cute for a baby shower!
