Pop Up Parks Return to Downtown Huntsville
If you’re walking around downtown Huntsville with your family the next few weeks, you might notice something different. Back by popular demand, Downtown Huntsville Inc. has installed Pop Up Parks throughout, and they are a great way to explore the Square!
Pop Up Parks consist of 10 park builders constructing and installing miniature parks in 10 parking spaces around the Square. The parks are free and open to the public and stay up for 10 days, from October 19th through the 29th. The theme for this year’s Pop Up Parks is, “A Vision for Huntsville.” Turns out, you can fit A LOT of fin into a rectangle the size of a parking space!
Pop Up Parks Parent Pro-Tip
(Try to say that 3x as fast as you can!)
If you haven’t been downtown in a while, between October 19-31 is really a great time to take an afternoon and go – there’s so much FREE fun to be had all in one place!
1.) Play in the Pop Up Parks Around the Square
If you get peckish grab a bite of lunch at Big Oh’s or Sam & Gregg’s Pizzeria.
2.) Walk the Pumpkin Patch
From now until October 31st, the Arts Huntsville’s Pumpkin Patch is on display throughout downtown as well. Walk the Pumpkin Trail, find your favorite design, and vote for them to win the contest – we like #8!
3.) Go Duck Hunting
In addition to parks & pumpkins there’s the Lucky Duck Scavenger Hunt that you can do year-round in Huntsville. Using the clues here, can your family find all the bronze ducks hidden around downtown Huntsville? There’s prize in it for you at the Visitor Center if you do.
