THIS IS IT! The final push to our goal of collecting 125,000 diapers and wipes for babies in need in North Alabama. We’ll be camped out with our friends from WHNT, WDRM, and the Food Bank of North Alabama all day. We’d love for you to stop by and bring us diapers and wipes you’ve collected throughout the month, or just pop into the store and buy a pack to contribute! If you’re one of the first 100 people to donate diapers between 9-2 you’ll get a delicious treat from Pizzelle’s Confections – we’ll have special guests dropping by all day!

From now until October 31st pumpkins will decorate the windows of downtown Huntsville businesses, showing off the imaginations of Huntsville artists, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and families. Some are spooky, some are kooky – how many can your family find? You can even vote for your favorites! (We’re kind of partial to pumpkin #8!)

Join earthpeditionist Vanessa Branning of Leaf in Creek with little one in tow for this moderate local hike. Harvest Square Nature Preserve features two ponds and 2.3 miles of flat trails. Strollers and packs welcome! These great hikes offer natural beauty and exercise for the entire family but donations to help preserve green space are accepted.

It’s time for Astronomy Day at the VBAS facilities in Monte Sano State Park! Events will include family fun activities hosted by local science groups, planetarium shows and telescope observing. Outdoor hands-on activities from 1-5 pm will be offered by VBAS, as well as local science enthusiasts. Short planetarium shows will allow guests to view the night sky indoors, while special solar telescopes outside will offer views of sunspots and solar flares. It’s always a great day!
