The Defenders of Hope, a troupe of realistic superheroes are helping host this community expo including activity booths for kids! Other guests include Real Heroes – a section of community heroes, including police, fire, and this year featuring farmers; Super Shear – a hair donation booth, hair is cut and donated to Wigs 4 Kids; plus market vendors, food, and live music. New for 2017 is a Comic Book Art contest; a Lego vehicle competition; a costume contest; a Super Vehicle parade competition; and a car show. All expo proceeds support the childhood cancer research.
9/11 Honor Walk

On September 11th, our world changed in an instant. With enormous dedication and courage First Responders rushed into burning towers and into the Pentagon. Passengers took down a commercial jet to save others. Others too, bore an incredibly disproportionate share of our country’s response to the attacks. Our military and their families, with enormous heroism, absorbed the consequences for us all with costs we cannot imagine. To show our appreciation to the First Responders, their families, and our supportive community there will be Free Access to the USSRC with registration.
National Arts in Education Week Celebration

Honor Our Heroes Train Ride

The North Alabama Railroad Museum is beginning a fun, patriotic, and memorable excursion. They will be honoring our heroes, Madison County’s police officers, deputies, firefighters, EMTs, and other emergency personnel with a train ride. It’s a lovely way to remember First Responders with your family this weekend.
