Oh my goodness – get ready for an action-packed weekend in Huntsville!

As we do every Thursday, we’ve listed our favorite free and/or cheap family-friendly events happening in town below, but keep in mind there are even MORE in our full Event Calendar.

Hopefully by now you’re already planning out your summer camp situation – the 2016 Summer Camp Guide is full of Arts, Education, Sports, Day, and Overnight Camps to keep your kiddo happy & busy.

Concerts on the Dock Starts a New Season

This free, family friendly series is all about creating a laid back atmosphere for friends of Lowe Mill to enjoy original content and interesting new acts, Friday nights during the Spring and Fall. Earth Day in Huntsville

Healthy Kids Day at YMCA

Saturday from 9AM – Noon

Southeast YMCA | More Info

This year marks the 25th annual YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day® and the Southeast Family YMCA in Huntsville will kick off with a one-mile Fun Run and Obstacle Course. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be Kids ZUMBA class, kid-friendly vendors, food sampling, make and take fun and information available to motivate and teach families how to develop healthy routines at home.

Community Dance Day

Saturday from 9:15 – 2:00 PM

Stop by the Huntsville Ballet Studios to observe classes, enjoy free treats and even take a free class. It’s a great chance for you to try out the studios! Open house from 9:15 to 12:30. Free classes begin at 11:30 and run until 2 p.m.

Take a Walk in Madison

Saturday from 10AM – Noon

Madison Gazebo, Main Street | More Info

This is the last walk of Spring, so don’t miss it! Enjoy an hour or so walking by some of Alabama’s most beautiful antebellum homes in Madison. Charles Sturdivant will share stories about the homes’ owners as well as recognizing each site’s distinctive style.

Change a Bottom, Change the World

It’s more than fitting that The Great Cloth Diaper Exchange happens on Earth Day! There are currently 227 GCDC events located in 19 different countries around the world, and this year you can help beat the 2014 Guinness World Record. Get registered by 10:45, then get ready to change a cloth diaper at 11AM. There’s even a Kid’s Event!

Drop In & Create

Create a recycled/upcycled rain stick using a cardboard tube, marker and collage elements. It’s music you can make! This great monthly program is especially designed with younger visitors in mind.

Car & Bike Family Fest

The highlight of the spring is the return of R. Fathers M.A.D., Inc. & Wheel Fix It Car & Bike Family Fest! Cars, trucks, motorcycles, moon bounces, voter registration, vendors, family fun, and more. The purpose is to bring the community together in a positive atmosphere while making a difference in the lives of many.

Heads N Tails Crawfish Boil

Food choices include crawfish, various types of seafood, funnel cakes and more. There will be a Beer Garden as well as music by Buckwheat Zydeco. The family-friendly event will also have activities for kids such as face painting, balloon art, inflatables and a Moon Pie eating contest!

Camp Cha-La-Kee Open House
