Farm Burger Review
Does Farm Burger Make The Grade?
The highly anticipated burger joint opened recently and boasts an assortment of burgers made from grass fed beef, interesting “snacks” (think apps), and a bevy of sides and refreshments. Located in the Shops at Merchants Walk next to Whole Foods, Farm Burger Huntsville has something for everyone!
The new restaurant offers a hip, rustic atmosphere. Walk in, grab a menu, and walk up to order. Seating is offered inside and out, but they ask that you wait until you’ve ordered to be seated. We had no trouble snagging a table despite a busy crowd.
Farm Burger Menu
Appetizers – they call them Snacks – include interesting options like deviled eggs and boiled peanuts. You can choose a specialty blackboard burger or you can build your own burger with unique options like pork belly and pimiento cheese. Fries are extra. We tried the fries and rings with smoky paprika mayo. The basket was plenty for two adults. I tried a basic burger with a gluten free bun, FB sauce (tangy and delicious) and smoked gouda. My husband had the #1 Farm Burger which featured the FB sauce, aged Vermont white cheddar, and caramelized onions. The burgers were filling and delicious. The fries are great too, but don’t miss the onion rings!
Not in the mood for burgers or fries? Check out the salads, and several sides like kale and grits. Want more in a beverage? They carry a host of local brews and “adult” concoctions blending up some milkshakey goodness. These can be made adult friendly or kid friendly.
Farm Burger For Kids
The kids each had a kid’s burger, one with cheese, and one without. These are just slightly larger than slider size. They come with fries or seasonal fruit, veggies, and sunflower butter dip and a beverage. There are other Little Farmer options as well to include fried chicken lollipops, grilled cheese, and mac and cheese. The kids said it was solid.
They’ve made sure to include a changing table in the restroom and highchairs and boosters to keep it family friendly. The placements indoors lend themselves to a pre-meal art moment, but you might not need it, because this was some of the fastest service I have ever experienced. I admit, when our food came out at lightning speed despite a hearty crowd of hungry folks, I thought our burgers might be undercooked or something left off our order. Not the case. The food was prepared correctly and delicious. And, let’s all be honest – when the littles are squirming and wiggling and hungry, the sooner the grub can arrive, the better.
To recap, my husband had a Farm Burger and a beer. I had a build a burger and sweet tea and we shared a fry/ring basket. The kids had Little Farmer meals. Our total bill was $45.70. It is a fun, family friendly atmosphere and definitely worth the try if you want fresh food and grass fed beef options.
I’m already planning a lunch-date revisit that is going to focus solely on a testing of all the “Snacks”…I mean sweet potato hush puppies with apple butter…right?
