The Huntsville Botanical Garden’s Galaxy of Lights is in its 20th year and bigger than ever! It’s the perfect holiday treat for the young and young-at-heart, and a tradition for many families in the North Alabama area (and beyond!). Being able to watch your child’s eyes light up as brute as any star in the sky is priceless. The Galaxy of lighs is just Christmas Magic at it’s best and it’s a life time memory that the family and children will cherish forever. Magical just Magicaly!
I would love to go to see the Galaxy of Lights! I have never been before. My mom, brother, sister-in-law and my neice go every year together and always tell what a great time they had and what I missed out on. So, this year I will be able to go and would LOVE to be able to take them with me. I want to have that memory of all of us going together so I can cherish it forever!!! 🙂
I am really wanting to take my granddaughter this year because she has never been. I remember going a few years back and it was pretty Awesome! I love seeing all of the beautiful lights that everyone there has taken the time to put up for all of us to see. Hopefully if I win we might see Santa Claus!
Lights, Treehouses, Scarecrows 🙂
We love spending time together during Christmas and playing games!
It is hard to pick just one (or even a few) favorite part of the Garden!!! We love everything, from the train at the front, to the Children’s Garden, to the butterflies, to the coy ponds, to the tulips, to the survivors’ garden, to the pirate ship, to the gnome house!
I would love a free pass! As my toddler gets older, I love seeing his face light up at all the lights. Each year he enjoys it more and more.
The water play areas in the summer for the kids.
Our entire family loves going to see the lights. It makes the holidays more magical!
Posting here with the correct email! The last one posted wrong.
There is so much to love about the garden! We love getting a membership so we can come and explore often, that way we can pick an area and really enjoy it each time. We love the special exhibits (LEGOs rocked!) and walking through the Christmas lights is a favorite tradition!
We would love to win a pass! I love how they always have somthing going on year round!
I would love to go to the Galaxy of Lights. I have a one year old and would love to start a family tradition of taking him. I took my nephew a few years back when he was visiting for Christmas. The lights were great and the look on his face was priceless. Hopefully I can win this year and go.
We love the kids play areas and the butterflies.
What my family likes most about the garden is simply all the lights. We love driving through the displays, singing Christmas carols, and drinking hot coco. It makes us a close family.
That it makes nature so accessible for our family and being able to spend time outside
Love everything thing at the Gardens but really enjoy the koi pond
We love the snowflake section where all the strands of white lights are and drinking hot chocolate under a heated blanket while driving thru with the windows open.
We would love to win a car pass! My daughter went with her grandparents when we first moved here in 2012. My hubby hasn’t been since he was younger. My son and I haven’t been and we would love to go as a family! When we lived in Texas we used to do a drive through Christmas light show called Santa land, it was very pretty even had lights up in the trees almost like a net over our heads. Here in Huntsville we like to try and caught houses that have the music playing with the lights.
The scarecrows each year, the butterfly house, and the hammocks under the trees are our favorite! We have never been to see the lights though. My family would love it, I’m sure!
I have 2 beautiful children, 2 & 7, that would enjoy seeing the lights. Recently separated, I’ve been trying to keep everything normal with the holidays approaching with a serious budget. Please pick my family to receive a free pass to the Galaxy of Lights.
The kids and I enjoy coming to the plant sales every year with my mom. .. she adores Harvey Cotton..lol. 🙂
We would love a pass to see the Galaxy of Lights. We don’t get to come every year for the lights, but last year we went. And my youngest son was able to see the lights. He could not make anything out, but at least he got to see that there were lights and we described what everything was to him. He loved it.
Galaxy of Lights will always be my daughter’s first experience with Santa but more than that she never stops talking pointing out all the different displays. It’s amazing every year.
I would love to take my kids,we haven’t been in a couple years. I just love to see how their faces light up at all the beautiful lights
We love to look at the lights that show animals and we love the lights that look like rain
My favorite thing about the gardens would have to be all of the wonderful children’s activities. My 2 boys never tire of this place and we love all of the special events such as Bootanica and the Easter egg hunt. We are so thankful to have such a beautiful place basically at our back door!
I love watching my son play in the water rock garden. It is wonderful on a hot day. Then we like to cool off in the butterfly garden.
My children love the butterfly house!
I’d love to win a pass dope my family so we could experience the reactions of our children about all the lights. We even talked and thought about it all year long. Our youngest son got upset more than a few times about the long lines and time it took to get through. All we had to do say “lights” and point and he’d stop crying and repeat “lights” and giggle so to this day any time he gets upset we just say lights!!! 😉

I love going to the Galaxy of Lights. I’ve been every year since I moved here in 2004. There’s always something new to look at and I love seeing the names of the generous sponsors. I plan to make it a tradition to take my daughter (now 7 months old) to walk through the lights every year. It’s family friendly and I’m sure she’ll love seeing Santa Claus (eventually).

We love to check out the all the blooming flowers in the springtime; along with the famous Egg Hunt “dash” and the fall scarecrow trail. The kids also enjoy the garden on a nice summer day!
Our favorite part of the garden is the butterfly garden!
My favorite memory of lights when I was little was this place I lived in black stone VA where it had a little village with little houses and u could look in the windows and see little elves working. It was magical. But now for my little ones we usually go to this house down the road from us that puts up lights that dances to the music. But we’ve never been to the botanical gardens yet. We would love to go.
We love the garden for so many reasons all year round!
I’d love to win a pass for my family so we could experience the reactions of our children about all the lights again. We even talked and thought about it all year long. Our youngest son got upset more than a few times about the long lines and time it took to get through. All we had to do say “lights” and point and he’d stop crying and repeat “lights” and giggle so to this day any time he gets upset we just say lights!!! 😉

My daughter loves when we go through the tunnel looking part of lights, and my son loves the dinosaurs! We’ve made it a tradition to figure out a way to go every year on Christmas Eve!
My dad and mom started the tradition of driving through to see the beautiful lights. We try to go each and every year.
T would be fantastic to take my grandmother. She can’t do the walk through
We just moved here in April so haven’t been to the galaxy of lights yet but our family loves the gardens. My daughter’s favorite places are the train and the children’s garden of course. And we had a great time at bootanica this year!
The garden represents one of the most peaceful places in Huntsville, Al. I remember a couple of years ago my Grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. The day we found out I left my house and somehow ended up at the Botanical Gardens. My anxious soul rested. God gave me peace. Since the My children and I look forward to going every year. It’s a place where no homework is done, there are no unmet expectations or stress, just my family and I having fun. We can’t wait to see the 20th year spectacular display!!!
We just went for walking night tonight! My kids love to see all the different lights, and of course the garden train! I love seeing them experience it a little differently each year as they grow.
Galaxy of Lights Walking Night has been a family tradition as long as I have had littles. We look forward to it every year. It marks the beginning of the holidays for us.
We’ve never been to the gardens because we are new to the area but have heard so much about it and are excited to go. Whenever we go look at lights with our kiddos we put them in their jammies, fix them hot chocolate and a treat and play our favorite Christmas songs.
I love taking my kids to see galaxy of lights, just watching their eyes light up while riding through and hearing them sing christmas songs is truly amazing.
I would love to win a Galaxy of Lights pass to come see all the beautiful lights with my family. My family and I really enjoy spending time together and going to see the lovely display of lights.
LOVE the Botanical Garden — and the Galaxy of Lights! I love how sparkling and vibrant and perfectly Christmas it is!
The gardens were a great place to take my boys when they were younger! We haven’t been in several years & would love to experience the Galaxy of Lights as a family!
The lights are a family tradition! We love them!
My family loves the Galaxy of Lights!! Our favorite part is seeing our daughter’s eyes light up with excitement when we pull up!
It’s our family tradition to go see the Galaxy of Lights during the walking nights. Our family loves it. My kids also enjoy the butterfly house.
A couple years ago my mom came out to visit. So we all pulled into the car and drove though the galaxy of lights we had soooo much fun laughing and enjoying the lights. We still all about it. Great family experience.
I have never been to the Garden, but I’d love to go. My favorite memory involving Christmas lights would be counting stars, Moravian Stars! I grew up in Bethlehem, PA and during the Christmas season our family would often make the 10 minute trip between our home and my grandparents through historic parts of town. My siblings and I loved to look at all the decorated houses and see who could find the most Moravian stars.
It never gets old. Even though we are not able to attend each year, our children, who are 6 and 11 look forward to the times that we do get to do the Galaxy Lights. Favorite thing to me is the excitement in their eyes when we open the sunroof and they manage to poke their heads out to see. Love making wonderful memories with the boys!
We have not been to the Galaxy of lights, but one of my favorite childhood memories is piling in the car (or cars) on Christmas Eve with several extended family members to drive out and see a spectacular light display that was put on by a family that lived near my grandmother in rural west Tennessee. I think the husband was a retired welder/electrician, and his hobby was making custom light display that he put up all around his very large lot of land. It was amazing and magical every year. The family doesn’t do it anymore, but I’ll always treasure the memory.
Love having a place to take my kids where they can enjoy being outside!
The gardens are where my husband and I had our first date. He took me to see the butterfly exhibit that I had been talking about for weeks. Love the beauty at this location.
We def love the butterfly garden
We haven’t been to the Galaxy of Lights I a few years but I was so amazing, kids loved it. One of the things we do every year is have our Christmas movie night. Cuddle up on the couch with some hot chocolate and watch classic Christmas movies…priceless <3
I’ve never been, but a must-do for our family is getting in the car with Starbucks treats in tow and driving to look at Christmas lights. We are excited to see all the fun neighborhoods in Huntsville for first time this year!
Our family enjoys the lights each year. The children’s faces light up with excitement! Growing up, my family went to the lighting of the plaza. A carriage ride around, drinking hot chocolate under a warm blanket. Afterwards, ice skating in the park. Can’t wait to drive though this year and see the new exhibit! Carriage rides and an outside rink would add memories of a lifetime to the Botanical Garden tradition.
I like the fact that my 20 yr.old still asks to go.
Our favorite part of the Botanical Gardens is definitely the Galaxy of Lights. We love driving through in our pajamas while listening to Christmas music and enjoying some snacks. We drink hot chocolate and bake small bite size cookies to enjoy during the drive.
We love the hammocks!
I have come to the Galaxy of lights for the past 10 yrs, we come down from TN every year, because it’s so spectacular !!
Love taking my grandkids to the Garden whenever they are visiting. Piling everyone in the car and riding through with the windows down to ooow and aaaw and figure out which story the lights are representing is so much fun!
My favorite memory as a kid is the magical transformation of homes with Christmas lights. We would drive through the neighborhoods, with a chill in the air, sipping on hot coco in amazement as each house would be brighter and more spectacular than the one before. It would set in our hearts that Christmas was here and the wide eye children in the backseat could feel the Christmas magic.
I would love to see the Galaxy of Lights- I have never been, but the main reason I want to go is because I am getting my grandchildren for Christmas from another state, and they would love to see this!! I hope I win!

Lights are just magical and such a core part of Christmas! My kids love picking out the different nursery rhymes, but really just love being together doing Christmas stuff.
I love the light curtains.I want to drive through them over and over again.
Since I have a small toddler, she’s only been to the Galaxy of Lights before. But she was small & I cannot wait to take her this year when she can really see & get excited about it!!
Our family only moved here this summer and we have never been to the Galaxy of Lights. It sounds like it is a magical experience. We have visited other places that have light displays that you drive through, and always enjoy them. It is just a special time for our family in which we can enjoy being with one another and enjoying the Christmas season.
Our anniversary is DEC 5 and since we added our two sons we made driving through the gol every year on that day. Four hot chocolates and pjs and we’re set!
During Galaxy season, my kids LOVE the falling snowflakes. During the summer, were love the children’s garden. 🙂

Christmas lights just make me happy and it’s so fun to go through with the family. I like the moving lights.
The lights are beautiful and I like coming in the van with the whole family.
I like seeing all the bright lights from my warm car as we drive around and listen to the music.
I love how creative the displays are.
The best thing about the gardens is the butterflies and they always have something going on the best thing about the lights is seeing the kids face light up when we go through the curtain of lights and the kids saying the the prettiest stars in the world.
Our family loves the Botanical Gardens any time of year, especially Christmas! It is magical for the kids and seeing their faces is for me!
