If you have a kid between the ages of 6-10, then you already know the lingo.
“I just Powned that Creeper with my bow!”
“Oh no! I’m in the Nether and there’s Ghasts everywhere!”
“Can you give me some redstone? I need to power some pistons.”
Minecraft is here to stay, and birthday parties full of Creepers, pickaxes, and diamond armour are all the rage!
But planning a party is one of the parts of a parent’s job description that can be the most daunting. What’s age-appropriate? Where are the best places to consider as party venues in Huntsville and Madison County? How can you throw a good party and stay within your budget? We plan on helping busy parents find the answers to those questions and more in our series, “It’s My Party“, where we invite real, local parents to share their great party planning experiences with other readers.
Big thanks to Abigail D. for sharing her Minecraft party with us!
The Minecraft Party Basics
Age & Gender of the Child: Boy, 7 years
Party Theme: Minecraft Birthday Party
Party Location & Facility Rental Costs: We had the party at our house.
# of Party Guests: 15
Invitations: Homemade – there are lots of ideas on Pinterest here.
Cake, Food, & Decor
The cake was also homemade. Because Minecraft figures are so geometric, this cake is easier than other cakes out there! I ordered cookies from Sweet Cookie Cottage and had minecraft related food: grapes for slimeballs, apples, pizza cut into squares, carrots, as well as candy for various Minecraft things.
Games & Activities
The kids played in the backyard digging for resources and crafting things to play with.
I made Creeper shirts for every party guest that cost a total of $30.
