Miracle Bash & Swim Benefit Huntsville’s Tiniest Patients

The NICU at Huntsville Hospital is a place that no mother wants her child to be and yet it’s also a place that all mothers are glad exist. Each year more than 1,000 babies from across the Tennessee Valley receive life-saving care in that NICU and the upcoming Miracle Bash and Swim for Melissa fundraising events help to make sure that those babies have access to state of the art equipment and supplies.

Each year more than 1,000 babies from across the Tennessee Valley receive life-saving care in that NICU. Two years ago, Amy George, founder of the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund, shared with us the very moving story of her family’s NICU experience. It’s a story we’ve seen play out again in the public eye recently with WHNT’s meteorologist Jason Simpson’s family. It’s likely that everyone reading this knows someone who has spent time in Huntsville Hospital’s NICU.

Now in its 10th year the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund has raised more than $2.25 million dollars thanks to the generosity of more than 7,400 donors and it’s not too late and you are never too little to participate!

Tickets for the Bash are still available and can be purchased by contacting the Huntsville Hospital Foundation office at (256) 265-8077. Have a swimmer (or paddler) between the ages of 4 and 16? There is still plenty of time to sign up for the Swim for Melissa event.

“Swim for Melissa is just such a fun event. The kids get to come and swim and hang out with their friends for the day. But as a parent, I’ve realized it’s about so much more than that. It’s about teaching our children that there are things worth fighting for and we are called to help those in need,” says founder Amy George.

Don’t forget about our very special “BIGGEST SPLASH AWARD,” which goes to the team with the most creative spirit. Show…
