Here at Rocket City Mom we’ve written a few stories about Rise School of Huntsville (now Rise School at UAH). In fact, we’ve written about Rise more than any other area school and you might be wondering what makes THIS particular school so special. After all, there are plenty of great area schools and RCM doesn’t write about them this much.
What Makes Rise So Special?
We spread the word about Rise School because it is like no other preschool in North Alabama. Before Rise opened its doors in 2013, local special needs children had little in the way of options for preschool and no area preschools were equipped to place these children with their chronological peers. With the help of a small group of dedicated parents and educators the Rise School model (started in Tuscaloosa) came to Huntsville and with it came the opportunity for this town to add one more credential to its growing list of accomplishments that make it a great place to live.
The Rise School maintains a 50:50 ratio of children with and without special needs and all children are placed in classrooms with chronological peers. Having a program like Rise in Huntsville makes Huntsville a better town even if only a handful of families are enrolled. A community that offers support and resources to all its members is a wonderful community indeed.
How You Can Help[sws_pullquote_right]Having a program like Rise in Huntsville makes Huntsville a better town even if only a handful of families are enrolled. [/sws_pullquote_right] Because Rise is such a unique program there is a long waiting list for special needs students but in order for the program to work effectively that 50:50 ratio of typically developing and special needs children must be maintained. If you know someone with a typically developing child who is looking for an outstanding daily preschool program that offers low teacher/child ratios, highly qualified teachers, and a thoroughly researched curriculum designed to meet the needs of all children then tell them about the Rise School at UAH. If they have questions, tell them to email me at email@example.com with “Rise School” in the subject line. I’m happy to talk about my personal experience or direct them to someone who can answer their questions.
A Quick Vote Could Mean A Lot
Another small but also very easy way you can help is by voting in the contest below. Rise School is in competition with a handful of other programs across the country to win a LightAide™ which is a wonderful (but expensive) piece of equipment. If you want to read more about the actual contest visit WonderBaby.com for details on how UAH Rise will use the LightAide™ in the classroom.
To vote simply “like” the photo in the widget and it counts as a vote for Rise School. You have until 10PM on Thursday, May 14th to vote. Don’t see the widget? Click here to visit the photo you need to like.
