Alabama Jubilee will be “remote” for 2020 festivities

According to Alabama Jubilee president, Ramona Evans, balloons will fly this year but adjustments are being made to accommodate social distancing requirements due to Covid-19.

The Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic is the oldest hot air balloon race in the mid-south and has become one of the most popular events in the Tennessee Valley. Each year area parents look forward to this Memorial Day weekend event but this year will look a little different.

Changes for 2020

  • Event will be one day only (Sat. May 23)*
  • No gatherings
  • No car, tractor, or arts & craft shows
  • No tethered rides
  • Spectators are asked not to approach balloons, crews, or pilots

*Rain date of Sun. May 24, 2020

On May 23 there will be a morning flight at 6:30 a.m. and evening glow around 8 p.m. in various locations in Decatur and Morgan County, Alabama.
