Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers and astonishing stagecraft. This show is a perfect opportunity to showcase a strong, iconic female performer, as well as unique special effects and illusions. The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

“Dinner with a Taste of Jazz” and Silent Auction will be held at the new Grissom High School in the Cafeteria, Media Center and the Auditorium. Park in the back of the school to come in for the dinner and auction. Follow the signs! Proceeds will benefit the Grissom High School Band Program. The home cooked Italian dinner dinner and silent auction will begin at 5:30PM in the school’s cafeteria and media center with entertainment by the Grissom Jazz band combos. Our main attraction, so to speak, will be in the Martha Deford Hays auditorium beginning at 8PM. Both “A” and “B” Jazz bands will perform with guest artist famed saxophonist and jazz educator Mr. Ron Carter!

Don’t miss the story brought to life, a timeless swashbuckler by Alexandre Dumas, a tale of heroism, treachery, close escapes, and above all, honor. The story, set in 1625, begins with d’Artagnan, who sets off for Paris in search of adventure. Along with d’Artagnan goes Sabine, his sister, the quintessential tomboy. Note: The Saturday Matinee is a special Sensory Performance, which includes a reduction of loud or jarring sounds and lights, and audience members are free to talk and move as needed. Take a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find “Truly Scrumptious.” An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical properties, including the ability to float and take flight. Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre is the non-profit performing company of Alabama Youth Ballet. Come enjoy time watching Snow White dance with her Prince and laugh at the adorable Seven Dwarves and root against the Evil Queen! Then be delighted with performances from Paquita. It will be fun for the whole family! There will also be a free showing on Thursday, April 5 at 6:30PM for special needs children and their caregivers. Daniel Hsu, Bronze Medalist for the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will be offering an Open Rehearsal with Q&A as the educational event preceding his concert at 7:30pm. Daniel is the embodiment of the way music and technology are complementary. In addition to excelling in music, Daniel is one of the contributing developers for the Workflow app, which won an Apple Design Award in 2015. He is only 20 years old! This event is free and open to the public. Any student who attends the educational event will receive a free concert to the concert that follows. The Huntsville Classic, a Huntsville tradition since 1989, is a two-part event with more than 5,000 guests. Proceeds from the 30th annual Huntsville Classic this May will provide a second Kids Care transport ambulance and equipment for Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. This “ICU on wheels” will transport injured and critically ill children and newborns quickly and with age-appropriate lifesaving equipment. Thursday, May 10, guests will enjoy dinner on the floor of the Von Braun Center Propst Arena, followed by a live destination auction and concert by four-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Jason Isbell.
