Support Group Spotlight: Catholic Center of Concern

Let me start by emphasizing that the Catholic Center of Concern helps families and individuals regardless of religious affiliation — you do NOT have to be Catholic in order to receive their services or to volunteer with them. CCC has a strong focus on women and children and on the elderly in our community. In addition to counseling services, they can also help with utilities, rent and non-narcotic prescriptions.

CCC photoThey operate a help line, which is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 9:00 a.m. until appointments are full. They also operate a clothing room and baby room, which allows anyone in need to come and “shop” for clothing (all ages and sizes) and baby supplies, free of charge. The baby room offers mothers with children additional services, including baby basket items for moms with newborns, diapers, wipes, and other baby items for mothers with young children.

The clothing room is open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with no appointment necessary. Mother’s needing diapers/wipes or newborn baby baskets are welcome any time during regular business hours; Monday –Thursday 8am-4pm and Friday 8am -12pm.

Donated Items Wanted!

Donated items are always welcome! Items most in need include:

  • Men’s: coats & sweaters
  • Men, Women and Children: thermal underwear/long johns, winter accessories (hats, scarves and gloves) undergarments, socks, jogging clothes/sweats.
  • Baby room items: diapers especially sizes 4 and 5, wipes, diaper cream, coupons for formula, and dry milk formula that is unopened and not expired. They do not take baby gear due to lack of storage space and recall concerns.

If for any reason, CCC can’t help them with everything they need, CCC knows of other resources in the community.
