Many of you have already planned your summer within an inch of its life, but we’d like to encourage you to take a few days to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer. Stroll down a fairway, ride the ferris wheel, enjoy a game of cornhole, or just soak up some tunes while eating your weight in cotton candy. Below is a listing of area festivals, fairs, and carnivals happening this summer.* Enjoy!

Southern Fried Film Festival Opening Night

The Southern Fried Festival is an annual event celebrating films from around the world in Huntsville, Alabama. 




Hellen Keller Festival

Date/Time: Thursday – Sunday, June 23 – 26

The annual Helen Keller Festival, one of the largest festivals in North Alabama, begins on Thursday with a parade at 6PM in downtown Tuscumbia. This festival pays tribute to America's "First Lady of Courage" with four days of more than 100 activities including an outdoor marketplace, Keller Kids educational activities, and various musical artists performing evening concerts. Be sure to bring lawn chairs! Note that coolers, alcohol, and dogs are not permitted inside Spring Park. Parking is very limited; take one of the free festival shuttle buses!

RCM Review Athens Kiddie Carnival

A carnival just for kids? Yes, you heard us right and it is NOT TO BE MISSED. Seriously, read our RCM review and you'll be lining up. Tokens to ride are just $.50 each and all monies go to local charities. A North Alabama tradition that needs to become your family's summer tradition.

Lake Guntersville invites people of all ages to an extreme summer event where the fastest boats today race on an oval course at speeds of 200 mph. Enjoy two days of competitive racing as well as entertainment on land including a kid’s area, sponsors giveaways, food vendors and interactive activities provided by the U.S. Army.



Trash Pandas Crawfish Festival

The Trash Pandas will celebrate Independence Day weekend beginning with the Crawfish Festival at Toyota Field. Throughout the day, there will be live entertainment including music, performances, and contests including a crawfish eating contest. Activities include a Euro Bungee Trampoline, inflatable Moon Bounce, a Rascal Obstacle Course, putt putt, and yard games such as cornhole. At 9 p.m., a special fireworks show will end the night’s festivities.




Spirit of America Festival

The Spirit of America Festival celebrates America’s heritage and birthday every Fourth of July. It is one of the largest free Independence Day celebrations in the state. The event offers family games, summertime field competitions, live stage entertainment, unique demonstrations, sports tournaments, a host of food and craft vendors, booming fireworks, talent shows and presentation of the famous Audi Murphy Patriotism Award.




4th of July Music and Fireworks

Smith Lake Park Fireworks & Music Festival

The Smith Lake Park Fireworks and Music Festival is a day full of arts and crafts, food, live music, and fireworks! You can play putt-putt, visit the beach area, and the swimming pool will be open and renting kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards! Plus there will be the famous golf cart parade.  


Franklin County Watermelon Festival

Franklin County is the Watermelon Capital of Alabama, hosting the annual Watermelon Festival since 1981! The Watermelon Festival is an admission free event held the third weekend in August.
