Our little site is growing… Welcome to the first monthly roundup of Madison Family Fun! Each month Melissa be delivering fun and family-friendly events in Madison, AL to busy parents there. Of course, our specialty is free/cheap things to do in Madison but the ultimate goal is spending time together in your community. Enjoy!

Happy New Year from Madison, Alabama! After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, you might think that January would give you time to catch your breath, but you would be wrong – check out all of the happenings in Madison to help your family kick off 2019.

Don’t Forget!

  • Winter Break for Madison City Schools runs December 24 through January 4. Students return to class on January 7.
  • Monday, January 21 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Libraries and city offices will be closed.
  • Madison Baseball Association registration is open until February 3. The spring season runs April-June. More Info
  • Madison Softball League registration is currently open. The spring season starts in March and runs through mid-May. More Info
  • AYSO registration is open until January 31. The spring season starts in March and runs through the end of May. More Info

As part of Asbury’s Imagine Initiative, we are partnering with Drake State Community and Technical College which offers free GED classes at the Asbury Farmhouse. Classes meet on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:30-8:30pm and include free childcare and a meal before each class. Tinkergarten Trial Classes

At Tinkergarten, families meet outdoors to connect and learn through play. In this free trial class, a Tinkergarten Leader will facilitate an expert-designed play scenario, allowing children of various ages and needs to explore, problem solve, communicate, collaborate, and create together. Parents and caregivers learn, too, as we’ll share insight into your child’s development.

This trial class is:
– Designed for children ages 18 months-8 years.
– Child/children are accompanied by an adult. Siblings of any other age are most welcome.
– Limited to the first 15 families who register.
– Kids may get a bit messy (Hurrah!), so please send them in clothing that can get dirty.
– We start the class at the specified location, but may end within a reasonable walk from that location.

Join us for monthly building time in this K-5 program. Parents are encouraged to join in! Ms. Lisa will lead us in a warm-up activity or story, then you’ll have plenty of time to create something amazing based on our monthly theme. Bricks are presorted by color. Madison City’s Sesquicentennial Birthday Celebration

To celebrate Madison City’s Sesquicentennial Birthday and the National Day of Service, we invite all to join us for the kickoff of a yearlong Service Rally honoring the city of Madison. We will be freshening up Kid’s Kingdom Park playground. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Chic-Fil-A will be providing breakfast for all volunteers.
