[/box]As I was preparing this article, I ran across this piece by John Peck which ran almost a month ago in the Huntsville Times. Since I do my best to stay on top of this subject and yet I still missed it, I thought it was worth mentioning here in case others missed it as well.

In his article, Peck reports on a recent meeting at UAH where representatives from local businesses, churches, civil organizations and the like met to discuss the problems at Huntsville City Schools and some possible solutions. Delois Smith, vice president for diversity at UAH and co-chair of the Racial Harmony Coalition, a mission of Huntsville’s Interfaith Mission Service, moderated the discussion. It is hinted at that she is planning to try to engage a larger section of the public in future discussions and her contact information is shared.

I encourage you to read this article and if you have a true interest in making a difference for your children, contact her, attend a meeting, get involved. I’m going to.
