Simply put, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre is a Huntsville Institution. If you have a child who loves theater and wants to learn more about acting and being on stage, look no further – this is the place to go. They have over FIFTY YEARS of theater instruction and production experience and they do it well.

Their passion for children results in fun and in-depth classes and camps offered at their Academy. We conferred with Candice Cooper, Fantasy’s Education Director, to learn more about their summer camps in 2016.

What activity opportunities exist for your campers?
In June, we offer four weeks of our Full Day camps! Each week will focus on a theme to inspire our daily activities. Actors are divided into groups based on their age. Throughout the week, students will also work on different elements of theatre including acting, voice, movement, dance, musical theatre, improvisation and much more! Families are invited to join us on Fridays for “Sharing Day.” Actors will share their work with family and friends in a state-of-the-art theater at the Academy for Academics and Arts.

Also in June we have three Early Childhood theme camps for ages 3-4. Our young actors can explore stories they love…Goldilocks and Bear, Frozen Fun, and Dino- Stories. We also have one camp in July celebrating Mickey Mouse: The Mouse is in the House!

In July, we have several half day theme classes as well as our Performance Showcases. A few of our most popular half day camps are Star Wars on Stage, May The Bard Be With You, Stage Combat, Dory and Nemo, Snoopy Goes to Camp, and Stage Make-Up!
