What is your camp’s predominant mission/philosophy?
To Enrich the Lives of Children and Families through Theatre and Arts Education
What sets your camp apart from other area programs?
Taught by professional teaching artist, our educational theatre camps provide a fun and unique experience that strives to expand your child’s creativity! Our goal is to help students develop their: Bodies, Voices, Minds, and Imaginations to enable them to flourish and grow, both as artists and people. We focus on teaching Life Skills through Stage Skills! Through acting, singing, and dancing, students will develop skills such as active listening, creativity, teamwork, self-confidence, concentration, critical thinking, and empathy. Campers get to see their hard work come to life onstage while making friends and building confidence along the way. Programming includes creative drama, acting, musical theatre, dance, film, performance showcases, and theme classes.
What activity opportunities exist for your campers?
We have all new summer camp programs for ages 3-18 including Full Day and Half Day camps as well as Performance Showcases! Families are invited to join us on Fridays for “Sharing Day.”
Full Day Camps
We offer four weeks of our Full Day camps! Each week will focus on a theme to inspire our daily activities. Actors are divided into groups based on their age. Throughout the week, students will also work on different elements of theatre including acting, voice, movement, dance, musical theatre, improvisation and much more! In addition, actors will participate in our Wednesday Workshop Day- actors will have a specialized workshop.
Musical Theatre Performance Showcases
In this two week musical theatre performance intensive program, our aspiring actors will gain stage experience by working on a musical. Actors will showcase their talents in a fully developed production. Class size is limited.
Teen Acting Showcases
Affectionately described as “boot camp theatre,” FPCTA’s Teen Acting Showcase is an exhilarating combination of theatre training and stage experience. This program requires a lot of discipline and focus and is an exciting challenge for any young actor. Actors will showcase their talents in a fully developed production. Class size is limited.
Half Day Camps
We offer several weeks of different workshop options for campers of all ages! Campers (ages 5- 12) can choose to extend their experience to a full day by taking a morning and afternoon workshop. Campers staying for a full day of fun are welcome to take part in a supervised lunch before the afternoon camp begins. FPCTA does not provide food or drink. Campers staying for a full day, please provide a peanut-free/tree-nut free lunch each day.
What protocols are you following for Covid-19?
As we are in an ever-changing environment during Covid-19, we will post our updated Summer Camp policies and procedures on our website when we open summer camp registration.
What advice do you have for parents looking for a camp for their child(ren)?
Each summer, we try to offer something for everyone, no matter your child’s experience level! We encourage parents to choose classes based on their student’s interests whether that’s acting, singing, dancing, or even a specific theme class subject if students have never attended a theatre camp before. If families have questions or are having a hard time choosing, we love talking to families to help them find the perfect fit!
