Mom’s Thoughts
This is our favorite access to the Athens Rec Center Track; it’s a short walk from the parking lot to the creek, which my son loves. The creek is usually very shallow here and there are a couple of cute little bridges. Restrooms are located in the pavilion behind the tennis courts (near the track), but be sure and bring your own soap or hand sanitizer. There are no changing tables in either restroom.
The playground is small and geared for younger children, I think, and some of the equipment has been removed over the years. This park could use a bit of a facelift, but it’s never crowded. There are benches close by and also a pavilion with lots of picnic tables. If you come to play at this park, you simply must take a stroll down to the creek — it’s our favorite feature here.
