Ready for a getaway? Who isn’t.
Let’s get real. We are all tired of hanging out in our houses and staring at the same people day in, day out. Masks are great for preventing the spread of Covid-19 but even the fun ones don’t break up the monotony enough these days.
My Secret Obsession
When I’m overwhelmed by the day to day one of my favorite “escapes” is planning for a short trip or vacation. Is this productive? Probably not. Does it make me feel better and less stressed to dream about a future date when I’ll be able to relax fully in a beautiful, serene location away from the normal hustle and bustle? Yes!
Fall Break is Coming
And then Winter Break, and Spring Break, and…you get it. Earlier this summer I wrote about our family’s socially distant trip to the beach. We’re all about escaping for a bit and changing up the scenery but also doing it safely. This means staying away from those outside our family (or pod) as much as possible and it does limit our choices. As a personal preference, the less time in a car the better because I have kids who hate long car rides.
All of which makes this dreamy Farmhouse on a Lake in Scottsboro perfect.
Let’s Take a Look

What I like
Water view. Check. Privacy. Check. Something to do that isn’t inside but also isn’t around a bunch of people. Check. This space is perfect for picnics, kayaking, fishing, reading/eating/hanging out on GORGEOUS uncovered porch or the screened porch – 2 porches!

What I love
At a bit more than $300 a night this isn’t in everyone’s budget, but with four bedrooms (two up and two down) and three and half baths this could be perfect for two families. Maybe you’ve got a quaranteam or pod you want to take with you. Maybe you’re super close with your in-laws. Younger kids can enjoy the bunk room, bigger kids have a separate upstairs hangout space, and grown-ups can stretch their legs in the spacious kitchen/living/dining areas.

Also, this is fairly new construction. While I’m definitely a fan of old homes and LOVE me some character, I’ve also been burned by vacation rentals that looked cute and quaint online and upon arrival that character turns into problems. Quick story…I actually got locked in a bathroom at the beach last year due to a faulty pocket door. Not fun and not the first time I’ve run into bathroom issues at older rentals. So now I prefer my rentals to be on the newer side which leads to less “surprising” charms.

Don’t take our word for it
The most adorable farmhouse on the lake with amazing views! The house is situated in a quiet cove that allowed for great water sports and fishing, while not being disturbed by a bunch of boats. Great fishing from the dock or you could use the provided kayaks. The house was perfect for two families, with a large kitchen and dining space, as well as a large sitting area and screened in porch. The back patio was also a great place to hang at night. Thomas was a great host! Very responsive and helpful! We also met the sweetest neighbors! – Courtney, July 2020
This was our second time visiting and I can honestly say it just keeps getting better. Can’t beat this house and this view. We’ll be back again next summer for our 3rd stay!! – Mackenzie, August 2020
