Weekend Roundup October 6-8
We love Fall in the Tennessee Valley! There’s no shortage of free/cheap fun to be had and we’ve listed some of our favorites below.
If you’re staying in town for the school break, be sure to consult our Fall Break Camp list. It’s not too late to sign the kids up for some fun camps & classes next week! Each year, during the first week in October, senior citizens and school children alike come together to enjoy Oktoberfest activities such as: a wiener dog race, an arts and crafts show, wagon rides, a kids’ fun area, multiple stage events, a Biergarten, a classic car show, featuring German cars, numerous contests, Historical tours, a quilt show and much, much more!
Boaz Harvest Festival

This two-day festival offers over 225 arts & crafts lining the streets, music and special guest The Bama Land Band, food court, Moon Pie and RC Cola eating contest and Free Kidz Inflatable play area with rides and games (tickets required).

A trio of lovely ladies Maxell Russell of the Shoals Songwriters Showcase described as “a little bit of soul, some down home blues, clever lyrics, excellent musicians, and angelic voice. A true original in every sense of the word.” Equal parts jazz and R&B this Shoals band sings blues for blues lovers sure to get you up and your groove on. Madison Street Festival

The day kicks off with the MSF Parade honoring Gold Star Families and remembering lost heroes. Families can expect to have a LARGE FREE day enjoying the Children’s Area complete with arts & crafts, a petting zoo, magician, puppets and inflatables. Great entertainment can be enjoyed throughout the day on TWO Entertainment stages.
Make a Fire House Bank
Saturday from 9AM – Noon

Join this hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a cute coin bank with a fire station design. Once the bank is built, your child can decorate it with paint and stickers. All kids get to keep their project, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
