There are some pretty fantastic things going on this weekend in Huntsville that your family will LOVE! Bright lights, great music, crafts, sports, and so much more.

Every week we list free, fun, and family-friendly events happening around town here in one place, and we’ve been doing it for over five years. Time flies when you’re having this much fun!

Fabulous Farmer’s Markets

Thursday – Saturday

There are so many chances to nab something fresh and delicious from a local farmer or artesian maker this weekend that I thought listing them all our would be helpful. (Pssst… this list can always perpetually be found on our free Explore Huntsville app AND listed out HERE.)

A great way for youth ages 12-18 to try out rowing before they commit to this fun sport. Online registration required.

DayLIT and LIT

Saturday from 5-8 PM, then 8-10 PM

Big Spring Park | More Info

DayLIT, a new kid-friendly aspect of this event, will take place from 5 to 8 pm with kids activities and exhibits set up on Northside Square. As a precursor to LIT, the activities will revolve around Light, Innovation, and Technology. LIT features 4 artists’ on each side of the Square projecting their light show onto the historic buildings of Downtown Huntsville.. all set to music! There will also be yummy food trucks there for dinner.

TwickenhamFest for Families

Saturday at 10:00 AM

This part of the weekend-long classical music festival is all about families! You are invited to a special all-ages concert of the Stravinsky-set folktale of this cautionary fable. Learn about the instruments and the piece before experiencing Stravinsky’s music.

Make & Take Craft at The Mill

Saturday from 10AM – 2PM

Come in THIS Saturday for a Sea inspired Mini-Art-Take at the Art Cart! We are watercoloring on seashells in Studio 115! This is a free art activity for parent & child – Seashells, watercolor supplies are provided, all ages welcome.

Learn to Play Lacrosse

Saturday at 10AM, Sunday at 1PM

Interested in lacrosse but hesitant because you don’t know much about it? Come to a free Learn-To-Play clinic hosted by Huntsville Lacrosse, equipment provided.

Parent’s Night Out

Parent’s Night Out is a great way to reconnect with your Significant Other AND let the kids have some much-needed playtime.

Roller Derby Double Header… with Stormtroopers!

Saturday from 4-9PM
Cost: Adults $12 in Advance, $15 at the door | Kids 7-12, $3 | Kids under 7, FREE
National Speleological Society | More Info

Huntsville is home to the only JUNIOR roller derby team in the state, and they are awesome to watch with your family! The Rocket City Rebels vs Montgomery County Minions begins at @4:30, and the Dixie Derby Girls vs Capital City Roller Girls starts at 7:00pm. There will be some food trucks there to grab delicious grub, and a portion of bout proceeds go to United Way of Madison County.

Tween & Teen Art Session

Sunday 5:30-7:30 PM

Teens take over the studio tonight to create a masterpiece for their room! Choose one of the many designs and get painting. These are also GREAT gifts for the holidays that will be here before you know it.
