There is so many fun things to do this weekend, it was hard to pick just five for our list – please be sure to check out even more on our full Event Calendar.

Fall Activity Guide (1)We’re very excited about opening weekend over at Lyon Family Farm – you can spend the whole day there picking pumpkins, bouncing on the giant pillow, cuddling baby animals in the petting zoo, and watching the adorable pig races! They know all about family fun, and made our Fall Activity Guide possible again this year.

Finally, it’s the perfect time to stock up on fresh Fall produce and visit seasonal sales – do both by using our list of Farmer’s Markets and Consignment Sales.

This annual community festival includes a craft show, old time crafts, parade, pig calling and frog jumping contests, and games. That’s right… FROG JUMPING – just like Mark Twain wrote about! An antique tractor show and Bluegrass Festival are also part of the activities at the beginning of the week. More info.

Friday-Sunday

The annual North East Alabama Crafters Association Fall Craft Show is a great opportunity to do some shopping AND support local makers in the process. Come and shop handcrafted one of a kind items: toys, home decor, clothing, seasonal & holiday items ad much more. Friday and Saturday the show is open 9AM-6PM; Sunday from 12-5.

This annual festival is an enjoyed tradition in Huntsville, AL for fifteen years. Featuring the regions finest artists in an array of wonderful media – photography, sculpture, paintings, jewelry, textile & fiber arts, and many more. Add in great music and delectable food offerings and the Monte Sano Art Festival will once again be a highlight on the arts calendar.

WERU_#4Eat Street Food & Play Cornhole

The September Street Food Gathering is full of great food, live music, and fun activities! This rally coincides with the launch of this year’s Cornhole Trail – after you grab some grub you can walk a few blocks to play some cornhole to help work it off.

Davidson Center for Space Exploration (map)

The U.S. Space and Rocket center is hosting Marshall Space Flight Center and celebrating the International Observe the Moon Night inside the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. Enjoy hands-on interactive activities, including a live magic show, Janet’s Planet Solar System presentation, out-of-this-world photo booth, live planetarium shows and seeing the moon up close with the help of telescopes and astronomers from the Von Braun Astronomical Society. The family movie, “Big Hero 6” will begin at dusk outside on the Apollo Terrace.
