Hikes for Tykes Program Explores Magic Within Huntsville Botanical Garden
A few years ago I ran across a website called Fresh Air Family and I loved what a great resource it was for anyone searching for outdoor fun. With lots of great ideas for ways to spend more time outdoors together doing kid-level activities, the site was a bookmarked spot on the web that we went to anytime we were looking for ideas on getting out of the house.

[/sws_pullquote_left] One event that especially caught my eye was the Hikes for Tykes program at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I was so excited at the idea of taking my toddler on a guided “hike” through the garden here in Huntsville and I kept searching for the date. Alas, there was no such program at the Huntsville Botanical Garden – until now.As any regular reader of RCM knows, I LOVE me some HSVBG and I was psyched to see this program find its way to our fair city. Described as a “magical, little-ones’ adventure through the Garden” this walk will include searches for fairies, tadpoles and lots of chances for tiny hands to touch and explore. Aimed at encouraging outdoor exploration in preschool age children, this hands-on program will be led by Fresh Air Family instructor Karen Somers.
Participants are asked to meet at the Garden Railway and siblings are encouraged to attend. The cost is $5 per family with Garden Membership or Admission. Tickets for this program can be bought at the admission desk but if you want to save your spot in advance you can purchase tickets via the HSVBG website and print out an e-ticket to bring with you.
