Huntsville Participates In HopeLine for the Holidays
Rocket City Mom is partnering with the First Lady of Alabama, Mrs. Dianne Bentley, and Verizon to shine a spotlight on a troubling issue this holiday season. But we need YOUR help.
There are anywhere fromĀ 3,000,000 to 10,000,000 children and teens each year in the United States that are witness to, or a victim of domestic violence.Ā Family violence devastates children and teens, and can be especially prevalent during the holidays.
About HopeLine
Huntsville families can help support domestic violence victims in ourĀ community this holiday season by donating your no-longer-used wireless devices and accessories to HopeLine from Verizon. HopeLine phone donations given locally benefit victims of abuse within that geographic area. Phones and accessories can be donated at any company-owned Verizon Wireless retail store or by mail (you can print a postage-paid label here).
HopeLine from Verizon was established to help victims of abuse feel safer and less isolated by giving them access to emergency or support services, employers, family and friends. HopeLine accepts phones in any condition from all wireless carriers.
Wireless phones given to HopeLine are refurbished and sold for reuse, generating proceeds from the program. HopeLine phones ā complete with 3,000 minutes of wireless service and text-messaging service ā are also provided to local domestic violence agencies or local government and law enforcement agencies for use with their domestic violence clients.
We ask you to join us in raising awareness about the issue of domestic violence in our state. If you know a local family in need of help, Huntsville and North Alabama’s shelter is Crisis Services of North Alabama’s HOPE Place. For a list of those shelters across the state, click here.
