Giveaway Day 5: Ice Returns to Big Spring Park

Skating In the Park is coming back to Huntsville for a second year, thanks to the good people at the Huntsville Museum of Art Foundation! Located directly behind HMA in Big Spring International Park, the rink will be adjacent to the Tinsel Trail and open to the public seven days a week.

Now you can experience ice skating again the way New Yorkers do – at a beloved city landmark, surrounded by twinkling lights and festive music! Last year the event brought 10,000 people to the museum and park to skate during its six-week run, in addition to several thousand more who were skating spectators.

New this year are longer hours, birthday party options, and special skate events throughout the season. After skating, visitors can take advantage of a $5 discount off regular museum admission to go inside, warm up and enjoy mythological realism, sci-fi, Middle-Earth, and space-related paintings by renowned NYC illustrator Donato Giancola in the galleries.

Skates are available to rent, as well as “ice walkers” for beginner skaters. Visitors may also use their own ice skates. Light concessions such as hot chocolate, coffee, and snacks as well as outdoor restrooms will be available on site.
