All Good Summers Must Come to An End

The countdown to summer’s end has begun, and with it the countdown to the end of several awesome traveling exhibits here in Huntsville and North Alabama. But take heart! With a little planning, you can still manage to work them ALL in – as long as you hurry!

LEGOS in the Garden
End date: July 26
If you haven’t had a chance to see the Nature Connects installation at the Huntsville Botanical Garden you’ve only got a few more days to get there. After this Sunday the LEGOs move out and the Scarecrows start to move in! Be sure to bring a swim suit & towel so the little ones can play in the water fountains throughout the Garden! Dinosaurs in Gadsden
End date: August 3
The Hardin Center for Cultural Arts in Gadsden is just a quickie day trip away from Huntsville, and now is the perfect time to visit. It’s a cool indoor respite from the heat wave and a whole day’s worth of fun for the kids. Their current Dinosaurs Alive! exhibit is full of life-sized dinosaurs for a little while longer. Read more in the RCM review.
Robots at the Space & Rocket Center
End date: September 13
Another place to beat the heat, there’s many reasons why the Space & Rocket Center is a local family favorite. The latest traveling exhibit, The Robot Zoo, will especially delight kids ages 2-12. The interactive displays are so fun, kids won’t even realize they’re learning about physics, robotics, biology, and engineering! More details in the RCM Review.
Time Traveling at Burritt
End date: September 20
It’s just cooler on the mountain, especially thanks to Burritt On the Mountain’s current outdoor exhibit. Time Travel Adventure takes you on a scavenger hunt through the 1800s, back to a simpler, quiet time. It allows kids to race boats down the miniature Alabama River, find their way through an Underground Railroad Maze (complete with hand painted murals), and dress like they did in the 1800s for great photo ops. They can do all this while learning about local, state and national history. Read the RCM Review.
