Beaks & Barks

Bring your favorite four-legged friend to the Garden each day to stretch your legs and theirs and play some fetch in our “No Leash Zone.” Your dog can play there off-leash with his pals while you make friends with other pet parents. Then you both can enjoy the Garden while strolling, on-leash, on the pet paths.

Black History Month Programs at the Library

STEAM and cultural education intersect during this year’s Black History Month programming for kids at HMCPL. Through the “Raise the BAR (Black American Renaissance)” theme, librarians hope to promote better literacy and education for area youth through STEAM-inspired activities, in relation to African-American innovators, thought-leaders, and pioneers in history.

“Super Kids Save the World” Opens

The newest exhibit opens at the Hardin Center in Gadsden – Super Kids Save the World gives kids (and their parents) the power to go green! Designed with sustainable materials and practices, this super exhibit gives kids real superhero training starting with the four R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle! Ages 2-12.

HSO Free Family Concert

This family-friendly concert is one of our favorite annual events, and a great way to introduce kids to the instruments in the orchestra. It doesn’t matter if kids wiggle and giggle the whole way through! Read all the details in our review.

Letterpress Valentine Workshop

When: Saturday, February 4 from Noon – 4PM

This is a drop-in, come & go workshop open to all ages. Make your own personalized cards on a 103 year-old letter press, then stay to embellish to your heart’s content with paper, scissors, glue, stamps and more.

Parent-Child Valentine Ball

AAA presents “Lion King Jr., The Musical”

Concert with Jennifer Daniels

This kid-friendly concert by Jennifer Daniels will help raise money for kids in need to play sports so they can build leadership skills and self confidence. Working closely with Eric Litwin (author of the first four Pete the Cat books), Jennifer writes and performs interactive songs and stories. These lively shows are designed to get children and families excited about reading, the arts, and creative self expression.

Huntsville ComicCon

Night to Shine Special Needs Prom

The Tim Tebow Foundation presents “Night to Shine, a Prom for Friends with Special Needs”. Each guest will walk the red carpet carpet entrance and be greeted with a friendly welcome from paparazzi. There is no cost to attend, however all participants must pre-register.

Seed Celebration

Columbia Elementary presents “Disney’s Mulan Jr.”

Valentines Father/Daughter Date

Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom

When: February 11th at 11AM and 1PM
Where: Burritt on the Mountain

The Underground Railroad had no tracks or train cars, but it moved thousands of slaves from the South to freedom. Experience following the clues from one “safe” house to next in our simulation. Hear music, and stories of the brave women and men who risked their lives to achieve freedom for themselves and for others. Participation is limited to the first 30 people at each offering, so arrive early!

Saturday Scientist: Color Wheel

When: February 11 at 11:30 AM

Clean & Learn – Wildlife identification

“Neighborhood Earth” Opens at USSRC

The latest exhibit at our beloved USSRC debuts today! Using hands-on advanced technology, guests can assemble rockets with 3D-printed parts, simulate the Orion Capsule’s reentry to Earth, discover the weight differences on other planets, and learn from interactive holograms. “Neighborhood Earth” incorporates artifacts from the U.S. Space & Rocket Center vaults to tell the stories behind mankind’s exploration of the universe, asking guests to question what the future of space exploration may hold for humanity. Fantasy Playhouse Presents “Miss Nelson Is Missing!”

Beads, floats, music – what more could you ask for this time of year? The parade will start and stop on Meridian Street, close to The Furniture Factory and The Lumberyard and parade through the streets of downtown Huntsville.
