Some of the most magical memories from childhood often happen in the summer. You can guarantee those lasting memories by signing your child up for the Rocket City Magic Camp this summer. What is your camp’s predominant mission/philosophy?
Rocket City Magic Camp focuses on building self-confidence, better communication skills, and empathy through learning really cool magic tricks. That’s the most amazing part of Magic Camp. The kids are learning empathy (ever seen a “pick a card trick” that did not require an audience?). The kids are learning to speak to each other eye to eye. The kids are learning a skill quickly and then are able to demonstrate this skill. I’ve been a professional touring entertainer for over 39 years. I’ve also performed internationally, have been written about in the NY Times and many other national publications, AND have my own national PBS TV show. I’m dyslexic. I (still) has difficulty reading quickly and writing accurately, but, magic taught me that I wasn’t stupid and I could be really good at doing some really cool things. This is a life lesson that every kid needs. Magic did this for me. Magic Camp can do this for your kids.
What sets your camp apart from other area programs?
Rocket City Magic Camp has partnered with Lowe Mill ARTS and Entertainment to bring kids ages 8-12 in Huntsville something really special. First, it’s being taught by globe-trotting illusionist and professional magician Steve Trash. Your kids will learn from a Master!
Magic Camp at Lowe Mill is going to be such an epic experience! There will be magic shows, fun interactive “team-building” games, ridiculous prizes (WORST PRIZE EVER BOX), silly music, laughter, learning of cool magic tricks, more games (DANGER DICE), exploring what it means to be a true magician, more laughter, learning the 3 Rules of a True Magician, more learning magic that you get to take home (RETAIL VALUE – $79 for the kit), and even more fun!
Plus campers will learn the 8 character traits of a magician: respectful, prepared, enthusiastic, confident, humble, creative, authentic, & giving.
Campers will also go by the 3 rules of a true magician:
1. Have Fun.
2. Treat others the way you’d like to be treated.
3. Never reveal the secret.
What protocols are you following for Covid-19?
We will follow CDC and Alabama Health Department guidelines.
What activity opportunities exist for your campers?
Every camper gets the following to take home: an official Alabama Academy of Magic magic bag, world class magic tricks, a VIP Key Card which allows access to the Video Vault (secure online site with hundreds of magic trick explanations), file folders with magic tricks and puzzles, a graduation certificate, and on the last day of camp, we invite parents and friends to come watch the magician’s perform their magic.
What are parents saying about the camp?

She created it. The site now boasts two owners, a managing editor, a dedicated calendar guru, and more than a dozen local parent contributors that help to make the site the #1 resource for all things family in Huntsville and North Alabama.
