Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center (HPRC) is on a mission to offer Gospel-focused, life-affirming choices, education, and compassionate counsel to those facing pregnancy-related decisions.

Here’s an inside look at the heart of this organization!

What is HPRC all about? What’s the big mission that drives your work?

HPRC meets people where they are. We are committed to joyfully serving the women and men who need our services. For any women who are facing pregnancies, planned or unplanned, wanted or unwanted, we want to support them, provide hope, good information, and connect them to any resources they need.

What are some of the biggest ways HPRC has made a difference in the community? 

Every year, HPRC serves thousands of women and men in the Huntsville community. All of our services are free, which include pregnancy tests, pregnancy options counseling, ultrasounds,
material assistance, parenting classes in English and Spanish, fatherhood classes, post-abortion support, pregnancy loss support and adoption support. So far this year, HPRC has had more than 2700 appointments, administered 810 pregnancy tests and 700 ultrasounds. 398 women have attended the English parenting classes, 330 have attended the Spanish parenting classes, and 85 men have attended the fatherhood classes. It is very moving to witness the relationships and friendships that are created and fostered in our parenting and fatherhood classes. Women and men have the opportunity to connect with a mutually supportive community, often including individuals who otherwise were disconnected from meaningful relationships. To witness individuals move from loneliness or hopelessness to confidence and joy in a hope-filled community as they bring new life into the world is deeply gratifying.

Who do you serve, and what’s something people might not realize about the needs in our community?

Many of our clients are impoverished, homeless, contending with substance abuse, often hopeless and despairing. Considering what a thriving and booming city Huntsville is, people might not realize how large the underserved community is and how desperate its members are.

What is the most rewarding part of your work at HPRC?

Showing people that they are a valued part of our community. It is a privilege to bring hope to the hopeless, inspire courage in the fearful, and meet real material needs, without any obligation on our clients’ part.
