Owens Volunteer Fire Department is excited to announce their Fall Festival that will be taking place on Sept. 23, 2023. They will be having a cruise-in, games, inflatables, corn-hole tournament, silent-auction, raffles and concessions will be available.
Battle of Sulphur Creek Trestle Commemoration

Richard Martin Rails to Trail (Railroad Street in Elkmont)
Historians will be at the site to tell the story of the battle and men who fought in it to mark the 157th anniversary. Hike or bike south from downtown Elkmont for 1.2 miles or 2.2 miles north from the Hays Mill Parking lot. Presentations every half hour. Go outside to enjoy nature, and get a history lesson at the actual site of the battle. Our family loves this trail!
2023 Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention

$15 per adult per night Friday and Saturday, or $20 for a weekend pass; Children under 12 are free with a paid adult|
This convention uses the proceeds to fund scholarships and other Athens State University projects. Over 200 musicians come out to compete for the prizes which add up to around $19,000. It is so fun to listen and watch, visit the food trucks, and browse over 150 booths of vendors.

Every first Saturday families everywhere are encouraged to get outside and visit the local parks, hike one of the many trails, splash in the waterways, and explore green spaces. There are so many places just waiting for you to have an amazing family adventure, for free!
9th Annual Athens Sports-Plex Charity Car Show

The proceeds benefit the Eli Williams block party for the Childhood Cancer Foundation. There will be cash prizes every half hour, door prizes, music by DJ David Sharp, food and drinks at the baseball complex, and kids can play at the Dug Out playground. Bathrooms are available at this event.
