Huntsville Library events for kids HMCPL

It’s no secret we LOVE the Huntsville Madison County Public Library and all of it’s many branches! There’s no shortage to quality community programs they host for kids and families. Library storytime is a great way to instill a love of books in your child, and the local library does so much more than just story hour! We like to list their events here every month, but you can see all of their other events on the HMCPL website.

Art in Flamingo Park
Triana Branch
Mondays and Wednesdays in Feb. at 10:30 am
INFO: Join this free art appreciation class for PreK-6th grade to learn about artists, past and present; and create a project based on their work. Weather permitting, group will play at Flamingo Park after class. Check out our Facebook group, Art in Flamingo Park for more information.

Groundhog’s Day Puppet Show

INFO: Can’t make it to storytime during the week? The Madison Library hosts one storytime a month on Saturday mornings! It’s a great chance for families to enjoy stories, songs, and crafts before they check out some great books at the library. 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM.

Bilingual Story Hour for All Ages

INFO: While language learning is an enriching experience for all ages, children have the most to gain from this wonderful adventure. Research shows that the best time to acquire a new language is before the age of 10. Exposing your child to language in a natural way, using games, music, and immersion techniques makes learning fun!! The bilingual storytime is open to all ages and includes a cultural craft or activity.

Anime Film Screening: Your Name
Monday, February 12, 2018 – 6:30pm
INFO: Join us for this special two night event! First watch the blockbuster Japanese film Your Name from director Makoto Shinkai. The film is about a teenage boy and girl who embark on a quest to meet each other for the first time after they magically swap bodies. The film features heavily the traditional Japanese craft of Kumihimo. Join us for the second night where Crystal from the Huntsville Fiber Guild will teach the art of Kumihimo. Class fee is only $3 and you will leave with everything you need to create a bracelet! Watch one of the highest grossing anime films of all time and learn a new skill!
