It’s a long holiday weekend here in Huntsville, and the lineup of fun and free things to do is great! Parades, art activities, storytime, and LEGOS are all happening, and all are a great opportunity to work in some valuable family time.

Ted-Ed Club for Kids

These TED-Ed Clubs are for students ages 8 to 18. An educator leads the club through a series of 13 meetings, designed to get students to permanently wear their thinking caps. From there, students learn how to frame their idea and present it in a TED-style talk! This first session is perect for kids who love to be inspired and inspire others.

Teacher Appreciation Weekend at USSRC

Teachers get in free this weekend at the USSRC! Present your school identification throughout the weekend and receive free general admission for yourself and one guest to the museum.

Saturday Storytime

These family storytimes are perfect for working parents who can’t visit the library during the week. Spend a part of your morning reading books, singing songs, and making crafts with your kiddo.

Drop In & Create Pop-Art Pizzas!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

Celebrate the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contributions as groups and floats parade along Holmes Avenue, Williams Avenue and Jefferson Street. Continue the celebration this weekend by participating in a day of service – we’ve got some great ideas HERE.

LEGO Club Meeting

Saturday from 1-2 PM
Cost: $2, registration required

Children age 6-12 construct Lego creations around a theme. This event is limited to 20 children and cost $2.00 per person. Fee is due at sign up in order to reserve your space and is non-refundable. For more information contact Cindy Hewitt at 256-489-3392.
