We hope by now most of our readers know we are all about local small businesses here at Rocket City Mom. We love to shop local as often as possible – we know small business owners, artists, and entrepreneurs are truly the heart and soul of a city.
Today is Small Business Saturday – an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. We’ve made it super easy for you to do that with our annual Hometown Holiday Gift Guide.
One of our favorite places to shop local is at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment complex. With over 120 working artists, small businesses, restaurants, and live performance venues, this huge historic textile mill is now a rising home for music, art, and culture in Huntsville. It’s the perfect place to do your holiday shopping, and gain a reputation for giving gifts like no other. If you’ve never been, this is the perfect opportunity!

Mason Dixon Bakery and Cafe. I am not gluten intolerant or following any of the popular diet regimens out there beyond doing my best to eat healthy, tasty food, and M-D does.
My favorite local small business is The Chocolate Crocodile. They have the best candies and goodies there! My favorite are there apples.
The Home Bakery is my favorite small business in Albertville, Alabama.
We really love DesignByHart Pottery! We’ve enjoyed their classes — both adults and kids classes!
There are sooo many. Its hard to pick just one if you were to ask my little girls they would say chocolate crocodile. Im a fan of piper & leaf myself. We also love Sam & greg pizzeria. The list could go on and on.
Is this open to anyone in US? I like our local tea shoppe in Nashville IN “Sweetteas.”
It is as long as you can pick it up in Huntsville! Due to the nature of the goodies we cannot mail it.
Our 2 favorite local small businesses just happen to be right next door to each other: Mason Dixon and Southerland Station!!!!!
Oh we love so many! Pizzelle’s has got to be my absolute top pick though 🙂 also big fans of Wish You Were Beer, Angel Island Coffee, Piper & Leaf, Blue Plate Cafe, and the Greene Street Market Store!
We love Sam and Greg’s for pizza and gelato!

I LOVE Piper and Leaf, Suzys Pops, and Taqueria El Cazador. Huntsville has such a great variety of foods and local businesses. Especially at Lowe mill 🙂
Pizzelle’s! Hands down the best chocolate I’ve ever had. Their drinking chocolate is phenomenal. Honorable mention to Grounded, for delicious coffee and impeccable service.
It’s impossible to name just one so I’ll name a few: all the DELICIOUS food trucks, Honeypie Bakery, local coffee shops (Southbrew, Grounded, Cafe 153, Old Towne), Piper & Leaf, Going to the Dogs, The Artery, Lowe Mill artists, Happy Tummy ( and Garden of Eatin’), local bicycle shops ( Blevins, Bicycle Cove, Trailhead), all the amazing breweries,…….. I could go on and on!!

For me, I have been sitting here for the longest trying to think of my favorite….which I can’t some up with. It’s too hard to say my favorite, because so much is offered and I love just about everything!! You can DEFINITELY find a treat when you shop at Lowe Mill!
My favorite small business is Piper & Leaf. I LOVE their loose leaf teas! Especially their ‘Front Porch Special’… it’s delicious!! I probably have 5 or 6 of their mason jars!
