– Great food & crafts for sale [/sws_pullquote_right] A few years ago, Huntsville’s Von Braun Civic Center wanted to host something special just for local families. This weekend, the second Family Fun Fest will take place inside the VBC South Hall.
Brandi Quick, Assistant Director at the VBC is excited the festival is growing so fast. “After an overwhelming response to last year, we’re back with an expanded fun space with lots of free activities! We’re so happy to have the community support for this free admission event as we celebrate all things Family.”
Come for the Family Fun…
The lineup for Saturday is pretty great. The best part? All the activities are completely FREE! Bounce all you want, ride the train, climb the rock wall, and more as many times as you can manage.
- 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Tumbling Track
- Storytime
- Inflatables
- Health Screenings
There are more great activities happening at certain times of the day:
- Balloon Car & Rocket Races at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Kid’s Yoga Classes at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM
- Hula Hoop Class at 4:30 PM
- Ballroom Dancing Lessons at 11:15 AM, Noon, 1:00 PM, and 3:15 PM

Lots of community organizations and small businesses will be vendors at the Expo portion of the festival, and the Mint Julep Marketplace area will have arts & crafts demonstrations & wares for sale.
… Stay for the FOOD
This might be the best part…
The VBC wants you to stay all day, and they’ve put together an Indoor Food Truck Rally for when you and the kids get hungry. Not only that, but they are working to create Family packs and special Kid’s Meals to make sure all that delicious grub is affordable and won’t break your wallet. You may not bring coolers or outdoor food into the South Hall, so plan accordingly!
Some of the grub available on Saturday will truly make your mouth VERY happy. Besides the usual sandwiches, burgers, and kid-friendly fare, there will be BBQ nachos, ice cream, and GIANT funnel cakes with a variety of toppings. Seriously, y’all. This thing will literally feed 10 people. Bring your friends and see if you can beat the Family Funnel Cake Challenge!
